give dps specs water shield
make swapping ls es and ws a situational skillcap that also makes the honor talent useful for dps specs
water shield maybe at a weaker than resto level in terms of mana regeneration
but at minimum though more talents should be designed like unleash (thunder focus tea for mw being a good example)
it’s a shame that unleash isn’t realistically viable for enhance/ele
there’s huge room for skill expression in pre or even reactively unleashing water
or having the situational awareness to know when swapping shields and either knocking or rooting would be useful for your team
I find the talent already very useful in some cases. Eat hunters with the root. Potentially stop monks goes with knock backs. Root wars on die by sword. The usefulness of the talent is pretty obvious. Wish it was only a 20 sec CD and earth shield should be baseline, maybe replacing the spit with water shield. But having a sheer, knock back, grounding, incap, stun can be pretty oppressive on casters.
Also why are you responding to your own post with alts and alts
yeah it’s uses are obvious and you’re going to get a ton of value in 1v1 or even niche 2v2 situations
but in 3’s it just doesn’t do enough to justify it over thundercharge
with access to water shield it would be enough that’d you’d use it for unleash water but have the skill expression room to recognize scenarios where earth and lightning can be used in windows where water isn’t necessary
mostly wanted to revise
seemed like an important piece of information because obviously enhance healing would be extremely oppressive if water shield offered us too much mana restoration
happened to be on this character and it has the same name so it shouldn’t matter
Curious as to what your take on doomwinds is. You mentioned thunder charge and with enough haste you could really pump dmg in 15 sec. Even without thunder charge, the spike in dmg is high.
I know the meta is burst, but doomwinds is a bit overturned, no?
situational answers
1 doomwinds is too strong
it does a ridiculous amount of damage if you have 1-2 stormstrikes available @ 5 stacks of forceful winds you’ll kill anything
2 doomwinds is a frustrating niche because of the prevalence of 45 second disarms and warriors in general
between disarm(lol@horn weakauras) / duel / and intervene you are almost guaranteed to never ever get doomwinds value
(ofc there’s value in being a sponge for all of the warriors defensive utility in turbo where your warrior gets to play the game for free)
3 i’ve been playing enhance since around cataclysm
while i like having a well defined 1 minute window to play around that lets you play things like turbo/ww enhance around setups rather than just raw pve damage
i’ll always really enjoy the mop era version of enhance that didn’t rely solely on something like doomwinds
even atm i’m finding myself playing wolfbones + ele blast and elemental spirits into a bunch of different warrior comps / most things in 2s and it feels good/refreshing
#2 is a problem with game design and how it is conflicted by things like weak auras. It removes a lot of the player from pvp and instead of the player having to recognize for themselves and react to it, the former is done for them.
Doomwinds shouldn’t be overlooked as being overpowered because of weak auras. It is a flaw in how the game is played and designed.
yeah and i didn’t imply that it should
my only point w/ #2 was that it’s overtuned but from a gameplay perspective it’s often frustrating to play
while it’s fun to play around goes and doomwinds lets you do that
almost like a sub rogue or windwalker and it requires synergy and some bit of awareness to use really well
it’s not fun to kind of crutch on it when the largest pillar of the meta is a spec that has 3 buttons to completely nullify your classes entire current design
but i as a long time shaman player do also enjoy enhance as a high consistent dps spec with eleblast and other legendary items and think those are super slept on right now
in general consistent dps should be higher and burst should be less impactful for all of pvp though
Disagree. I think addons are fine. They just help people customize their UI to decide how to prioritize and emphasize information.
I think the real issue is that the game should be designed so that, even if you know what’s going on, you should still have to think strategically about the use of your kit rather than just using stuff on auto-pilot.
Things like disarm are up so frequently and last so long that when we pop doomwinds they can just pop disarm without much thought.
If disarm was a 3 second CD instead of 6 sec (like intervene is now and like disarm would be if weapon chains made a return), specs with disarm might have to think harder about when the right moment is to use it to disrupt pressure rather than just automatically popping it when a doom winds weak aura pops up on their screen.
As for duel, maybe that should be baseline with a longer CD and a shorter duration? Like 2-3 min CD and 6 sec duration? Again, so that it would have to be used more strategically.
And how about putting spell reflect on the GCD like grounding is? That would make it alot trickier to use which would add to skillcap.
As is, arms is designed with kid gloves on. Lots of real short CD, long duration defensive abilities that are up so frequently and last so long that warriors don’t have to think that strategically about usage.
Until a weakaura is baked into the game that is standard for all players, there is a problem with pvp. This isn’t an opinion it is a fact. Using third party software to give yourself an an advantage isn’t cheating but definitely could be likened to using a chess engine to help you play online chess. Simply using the excuse “everyone does it” doesn’t make it right.
its not because enhance has it lol. you cant look at abilities in a vacuum. theyre not going to overhaul enhance to match warriors or wws and keep doomwinds.
except it doesnt give you any advantage over someone who just pays attention to buffs and debuffs lol. very weird stance to take
There are addons that keep track of trinkets and other abilities as well as give you remaining time on them.
Something about your ignorance bothers me.
I think you are leading on about your lack of knowledge of these things
which, again, does nothing you cant do with awareness lol. I had a macro to set a timer for trinkets in wrath.
lmao is this some elaborate troll or something
Blizzard decided 15 years ago to allow the community to develop UI addons. I think that decision was a great one and has led to a ton of options for players to customize their UI as well as easy tools like addon managers to find and update addons.
Could the default be improved? Sure.
It is a major problem in competitive PvP? Doesn’t strike me as one.
By the time you know what’s going on and what the weak auras would even be telling you, you know about addons and have probably used some.
Assuming limited resources, I’d rather see blizzard devote their time to balancing the game then hand-holding people on ui customization.
And balancing the game shouldn’t be based on hoping people don’t notice what’s going on. It should be about making people think strategically about their ability usage assuming they do know what’s going on.
