Enhance 2H vs Dual Wield thoughts

I most definitely do want 2h Wind Fury No skill One shots but I understand it isn’t reasonable and am selfish for wanting it.

You’re free to keep talking about it all you want but this topic pops up seemingly once a month and it always looks and ends the same: no one wants the spec ruined for a weapon type request that could be solved with mog. Everyone loves to talk about how they would tweak this and that % and makes these drawn out comparisons to other specs who have the ability to swap (SMF, FDK, WW, whatever) but the fact is they are all their own unique scenarios.

It’s the nostalgia-pilled boomers who watched that 240p wf video one too many times trying to relive… something idk vs people who would much rather they focus on actual improvements to the spec rather than dividing dev time and introducing a non-zero amount of bugs and gameplay interruptions with this complete non-issue of a topic. And I’m sure there are people who still believe after all these years that implementing this is a simple 0 to 1 change with only net positives… zzz…

and then there’s a few of us who would rather it not be implemented OR mog-able at all, out of spite.

I mean windfury is kind of bad in retail. It’s not like the classic version where the white damage bonus from windfury is absolutely brutal.

I highly doubt the 2h having windfury would magically create some turbo blasting autos in a game version where the auto attack is meh. If windfury was that insane we would see arms warriors with windfury totem bonus one shotting people. But it’s just an extra attack.

Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if most storm players don’t even care if lava lash didn’t exist in their build and if the storm build had 2h variant with a focus on ice strike with new mechanics attached to it. The build could be around the nature plus ice side of the tree. Also dw storm players could just stay DW and pick up lava lash.

I get people not wanting the loot problems but it’s not like it’s a hard thing to implement or balance. It’s just it isn’t worth for the devs to do it for a class/spec that’s on the whole unpopular

DKs were more popular than enhanc , that’s why their 2h crowd got a 2 hand spec, despite the fact that in WotlK when you played frost you were trolling if you didn’t dual wield and not benefit form threat of thaurassian

You also can’t SS or ice strike with a 2h currently. In this theoretical conversation we can use our attacks. I assumed that was already understood.

Something that’s been asked for for so many years… hopefully they eventually listen.

The fact that you can’t even use our attacks with a two hander…. But you can still equip two-handers is so stupid and should be changed. What is the point of even being able to equip them?

Personally I just want that feel of a huge 2h weapon and smacking it against an enemy while infusing it with lightning. It has nothing to do with nostalgia, or wanting WF one-shots, it’s about the feel of a heavy weapon and I’d love it if they could at the very least let us transmog 2h. I do think though that this poses a problem of skill animations, but honestly shaman needs an animations overhaul anyways.

I agree, in the current state it would feel terrible to rely or benefit from a strong auto attack as we would basically be playing tag with our enemies. If they called Storm Strike resets “Windfury” to begin with then we would have been like “ohhhh we are in control of the extra hits” but it just didn’t play out that way in history.

Still praying for that 2H totemic spec for no real reason. I’d even be cool with a 1H only like the days of the Doom Hammer just to get something new to play with and never lava lash again.

People also ask for weaponskills and spell resistances to be back into the game…

Well said. If you want one 2H, try Arms or Ret.

Might be the most ignorant thing I have read in a while. Sorry for wanting to be able to use the weapons my character has the weapon skills for. Who do I think I am?

There is certainly ignorance here, you just don’t know where it is coming from. Probably because you are ignorant.

Do go on.

I mean for real, this topic appears so frequently and multiple people (myself included) have gone on as to what would need to happen for 2 hand to be a gameplay option, the negatives about it, and why we advocate that it just be a transmog option. At least in recent memory this about the 5th-6th time this topic has popped up in the shaman forums.

Okay? Guess that settles it! Yeastyholes has spoken, this subject is now banned. You don’t have to go home everyone, but you can’t stay here. :frowning:

If a player wanted to play another class, they would be playing another class. Probably the most useless advice there is. Right on par with the classic “Maybe this game isn’t for you”

if they made 2h enh and forced it to be storm build and made dw the elementalist build, the only people that would be mad would be the people wanting to play dw storm, which we know wouldnt matter because those people are playing the worst spec for no reason whilst we know the 2h people are atleast delusional.

Gonna state that if it was a transmog option I would 100% transmog a 2 hand over my DW weapons.

I mean it’s not just me. Numerous people have made topics about it, and numerous people (myself included) have responded about it being against it while numerous people have discussed the pros/how to make it work. Go search and you will find this topic brought up continuously. It’s been beaten to death at this point. You ask for people to give their thoughts about it and people have.

And it’s played out the same: people ask about why it isn’t in, how to make it work, references to specs like Fury Warrior and Frost Dk having two weapon types, and why it should be in. People then bring up points as to why it isn’t viable, gear acquisition problems, longstanding consequences for design, how this has worked in practice for other specs given their unique scenarios, and that the amount of work needed to address issues does not warrant the dev time given the vast majority of balancing/tuning issues that are currently present or will be present based on alpha/beta/ptr data for upcoming content, and that a transmog option is the way to go.

Several responses give constructive feedback and criticism towards the implementation of it. If you want to discuss it, respond to those instead of being aggressive and trying to derail your own thread.

Except DW would be better since it would have higher MSW generation, the thing that current Storm relies a lot on and is critical to the strength of the spec come to TWW given how Stormbringer is designed at this point. They would have to upend so much of the spec to even make it work which is spooky since they can’t even design properly now.

I must be too much of a peasant to understand how I am derailing my own thread.
