So I’ve been using engulf since the start, because doing mostly solo play as devastation, it’s the best talent. Will only cast living flame when instant cast procs, so who cares about the +.5 sec.
But then i started to consider ruby embers and i think it might be the best option on boss fights?
-it put a dot stackable 3 times that last 12 sec. So just need to add to your rotation living flame every 11 sec ?
-With lot of haste and no .5sec cast penality, its a lot more tempting to use
-it becomes a lot easier to heal yourself too (ancient flame)
Anyone tried Ruby embers enough to have an opinion on it? Like tested on bosses and such? Just wondering
The only time you really use Living Flame is when you get a proc or have nothing left to press, so the dot doesn’t really matter because dropping other things in your rotation for something you wouldn’t press otherwise isn’t a great option. Also 40% increased damage is really big for .5 seconds of extra cast time.
We don’t use haste as much as mastery because we tend to do the most damage when we use Dragonrage, which makes us deal damage as if the target was 100% hp which scales off our mastery. Haste is really good, right behind Mastery, but changing up your entire stat priority to use apply a dot that you have to stack on an ability that you don’t use other than filler doesn’t seem worth. Could try simming it, but idk how well it would turn out.
Well you consume the same amount of mana, so all it does is make you go oom faster for 40% of the reward. Ancient Flame, if you were to take it, would best be used with Engulfing Blaze as it would pretty much cancel out the .5 sec.
Ok, thanks
Im more into preservation, but quest as devastation so was curious about this talent. What should they change on this talent so it becomes an interesting pick over engulf?
