However, I’m a poor lad and I don’t want to beg my rich brother (in WoW lol) to fund my professions. So I want to know, FOR PVP, is Engineering any good? I know that Alchemy has some kickass potions, and since a Rogue can spec into a talent that is partially meant for potion/healthstone use, I don’t consider it unfair to use alchemy healing pots on Rogue.
(Not that Rogues should be concerned with “fair” at all -especially in wPvP - but I felt the desire to point that out.)
Is there anything in Engineering that is actually good in PvP, in general?
Is there anything in Engineering that is good for PvP, specifically for Rogues?
As a poor player, If you want to run both professions run both, take any level 60 and get the gathering professions and gather your mats yourself. Idk anything about the viability of the professions in pvp. but theres no reason you cant fund them both yourself without gold
From my experiences, the most annoying rogues to fight have been those with engineering. You get Nitro Boost which is a 150% speed boost for 4 seconds on a 2 minute cooldown and you also have a reusable goblin glider on your cloak. You don’t need to worry about buying them anymore if you have this enchantment on cloak.
There’s also a few niche bombs you could make but that’d require you to either buy the ores off the AH or mine them yourself.
Alchemy doesn’t really provide anything that unique that you can’t just buy off the AH. I think the only thing unique are the alchemist trinkets, but those are going to be useless in PvP because the trinket set bonus is too good to pass up on.
I’d say stick to Engineering, give up on Alchemy and you can mine your own supplies for engineering. Get some gold too by selling some of your mats if you want.
If you want some good healing though, you could always pick up BfA inscription and get to the Blood Contracts. There are four different Avatar contracts you can inscribe and one of them is Avatar of Sacrifice which will accompany you out on the world for 4 hours, if it’s killed it’ll just respawn 4 seconds later. It leaves a pool of blood on the ground which will heal you and allies standing within it for 3% of your max health every 0.5 seconds for 12 seconds.
I’m by no means the richest player in game either but my skill in Engineering and Inscription is pretty good off of just buying my mats. I want to say one WoW token will be good enough to level both up.
I have Alchemy on my Druid and Engineering on every one of my other classes that I play on a regular basis. My Pally has Alchy/Eng.
Eng nitro boost and glider are invaluable. I can’t think of any other profession that has an item useful today that was from 4 + expansions ago other than savory deviate delight from Cooking.
Alchy gives more PvE benefit with the increased flasks duration. Nothing from Alchy really gives you an advantage outside of a PvE Instance that is BOP.
Health potions are cheap, can be used without alchemy, and still heal for 50%+.
Gliders can be obtained without engineering, and indeed share a CD with the bloody token parachute. But nitro boosts are engineering-exclusive, and invaluable.
So definitely engineering. And you only really have to level up WotLK engineering, at that. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen anyone use the DF tinker gems.
If that saves you money, you might want to consider Tailoring as a second profession for WPvP. The roots are really, really nice, and can be made cheaply with cloth such as netherweave or frostweave.
Yes it does (as well as backfire). It will make you drop the flag in a CTF if you are currently holding the flag but if you pick up the flag while they are active you are fine.
I’d say it’s a significant impact, but it depends if you’re going for burst or survivability though.
Avatar of Bloodshed is a hyena pet that lunges at opponents. If it lands the leap, itll deal a good 70K bite with a bleed that ticks for about 4k-5k. The hyena will start casting for about 2 seconds on the targets location, but it’s pretty easy to dodge. If the target is continuously moving, might be difficult to land.
Avatar of Sacrifice is a moose pet that attacks the target at melee range and will use an occasional bloodpool ability that will heal you for 3% max health every 0.5 sec for 12 seconds if you stand within it. If you’re a ranged hunter, you might not have best use for it if you’re really good at kiting, but if you have people constantly on top of you, it might be worth.
The Maruuk Centaur horn though is a must. That’ll be the best investment you make.
Going to buck the trend and say that DF Herbalism with a focus on Frost provides a chance to cause attacks to be frozen for a period of time. It is busted AF atm, and catapults that profession to the top of world PvP. If you find a Frigid Herb node prior to engaging in a fight you have already won.
