I took a few points into recycle and did a bit not too much is it just really rare to like get any recipes learned? The guides asking for stuff and I didn’t get any yet.
Just wondering if I am doing something wrong here or its just rare.
Thanks!

No. Unfortunately they reduced the chance of discovery by a large factor in the last update a few days before release. I submitted a bug report as I suspect they did not mean to reduce it so far.
I believe they were trying to fix a bug they had previously where node 10 wasn’t working.
Node 10 afaik still does not work.
However, I have discovered all recipes that can be discovered in the live game, so it is possible to do. It does take a lot of tries but fortunately you have a whole list of possible reagents to choose to break down and you can choose the cheapest one in the list.
That’s terrible.
Like seriously, they just had to make Engineering awful to level again?
“Oh boy here’s a system where you’ll need to spend hundreds of thousands if not millions of gold to level your profession! Screw you Engineers!” - Blizzard.
“Oh and just as an extra screw you, you can’t apply the Goblin Glider to any cloaks in this expac! Hahahahaha!”
Why does engineering feel so ridiculously prohibitive to level compared to other professions? 75 ore for 5 song gears to recycle? bruh.
Guess the play is to recycle other profession stuff or just buying the mats directly, but it feels a bit silly when I got my tailoring to like 50 with the starting bundle cloth.
I must have recycled between 500 to 1k powder pigments and I have not discovered a single new recipe with it.
At this point, it feels like I’m just pissing away my gold every time I buy more.
Maybe hold off a bit and they will fix it lol but then we fall behind haha. Oh well sigh.
I was able to learn a Quel’dorei gear recipe by adding concentration to my recycling.
So now I am at 80/100 Engineering at the time of this post.
However in order to level it further and get the recipes that I need (i.e. the Wormhole Generator), I have to do … you guessed it, recycling!
And I can’t even use NPC crafting orders for skill-ups because the only 2 crafting orders up atm are PvP pieces. But, we need 7.5k honor to buy the PvP recipes.
Nice will give it a shot, I did learn one recipe some house decor haha.
I spent 60k to learn all recipes. Much less than that to level. I’ve already made 800k from engineering.
Kindly look at the list I posted in the other thread and simply find the cheapest reagent. If you use the most expensive reagent on the list, that’s not blizzards fault.
That’s still stupid.
I’ve used the cheapest reagent and have gotten one (1) recipe.
Well I agree that the way they made it is quite stupid here and I made a bug report on beta. I told them people would have trouble simply leveling out of the early levels of they made it like that.
You seem pretty good at this stuff, what path do you recommend going down for money? not sure if profession quip or items or even parts lol. Tough choices.
I don’t particularly use my professions to make money so I can’t say.
I just sold everything I made or had no further use for.
Whenever I am leveling a profession, I follow this website:
https://www.wow-professions.com/guides/wow-engineering-leveling-guide#mats
It gives very definitve guides for leveling them all.
That’s quite a lot. o.O
May I ask what exactly you sold?
Enchanting dust from disenchanting all the blue gear from engineering and shattering the blue crystals to green dust.
Edit: when I did this the green dust was selling for over 100g apiece. Now it is down to 30g so it’s not really that lucrative.
A saw post somewhere that professions were going to cost 3-5 million in gold to level.
I would not level while some materials are locked or unavailable. So yes, if you try to complete a profession in that state, then yes, it will be horrendously expensive.
For example, for Jewelcrafting, it is relatively easy to get to level 65. But past 65 it is very difficult.
One thing you can make past 65 is the flawless gem recipes. However flawless gems require petrified root. Petrified root is an item which comes from nemesis chests in delves. Not sure if it’s even available in early access (because technically the season has not started yet). So, assuming that you can’t get these the normal way, the only way you could obtain these is in a random material bag from a patron order.
Similarly, several professions are easiest to level with blue/purple profession tools. Majestic (fin, claw, hide) are not dropping. Species-specific items are also not dropping. Whether this is a bug or an early-access restriction I do not know. So the only way that I know to obtain these is in a moxie bag. Which would require you to grind 600 moxie, which is very difficult (but not impossible).
Abundance is also not available. This is needed for purple profession tools. So you straight up cannot make these.
So, yes, if you are trying to level with these items because some guide told you to, you are going to pay through the nose for them.
Or… you could just wait until these are readily available and you won’t pay 13k per petrified root… not when you get them by the handful for every delve you have completed with a nemesis chest.
i agree i have recycled now over 300 times and only have learned 3 items….. and yes i have points in recyling
How do we learn recipes if we didn’t pick recycling? Am I screwed? lol
EDIT: Looks like you have to get to 50 skill then you can learn Recycling. I grabbed all the world spawns that give +prof skill.
Commenting to bump this. Engineering feels like they’re getting shafted once again. Plz BLIZZ FIX. THIS PROFESSION
