I’m choosing a Hunter for my main in classic. My question is, if i’m trying to build gold up in the process, is Engineering still the way to go for Hunters?
Yes, but no.
There’s some money to be made with engineering but not much as most of your gear can only be used by other engineers, and most engineers will typically build their own stuff.
One way to make money is by selling salt shakers to leather workers, those are usually in demand as every leather worker is gonna need one.
You could also try selling some of the different mechanical non combat pets you can make, not much of a market for those but I’m sure some people would happily buy them just for the novelty.
Though typically your main “income” is going to be from selling specific items that are used as required items in different odd quests, typically for darkmoon faire tickets but there are some outside the faire.
You CAN make money, you just won’t make enough. If money making is your goal you’re better off sticking to alchemy or skinning, or any other profession really.
Ty sir for the knowledge
Can sell ammo and scopes, but not sure how much they go for as there are going to be a lot of engineers.
But for a hunter to be competitive, Engineering would be the best spec right?
I’m sure there’s a 1-300 leveling guide for engineering. Might have to scour the wayback machine, but they are out there. Figure out how many of each type of mats you will need.
Now, level mining and skinning. Send the engineering mats you will need to level to an alt (don’t forget the cloth.) and earn gold to get your mount.
Once you have the mount, drop one of the professions and pick up engineering and you’ll have a quick power-level for it.
The salt-shaker market dries up after awhile, it’s not a consumable. The Biznik’s scope is the only scope to really make money on, but it’s in MC. Hunters that are serious about thorium arrows will pick up engineering to make their own. Some stacks will sell to raiding warriors and rogues.
“Competitive” in pvp yeah, but outside that the real benefit for hunters specifically is just ‘free’ ammo.
Hence why I said usually.
Ah gotcha.
