I’m clearing out old DF mats using pilfer through parts but I’ve run into a bug. I start with a stack of 1,000 Serevite Bolts, it processes once then fails on second with the error message “Requires 5 Handful of Serevite Bolts” even though I show almost 1,000 in the reagent box.
I’ve tried selecting a different stack of 1,000, I can only do it once before getting the error message. “Pilfer All” just won’t work past the first one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MVNH-_Mmbk shows the error message when I tried.
The only workaround is if I used “Sort Bag” to rearrange my stuff. Then I can do one whole stack without error but the error returns on another stack.
I suspect the error is caused because the first stack in my bag had less than 5 remaining and when I used Pilfer All on a different stack, the game erroneously selected the first stack with less than 5 after one successful pilfer. The solution might be to make the game stick with the selected stack and not switch to the first stack after one pilfer.
Edit: Another thing I also noticed, if I didn’t select the first stack of 1,000 in the regant box, the stack I selected goes from 1000 to 995 and stays while a different stack gets used up. Clearly a case of game UI switching to the first stack in the bag when it should be sticking with the stack I selected
Minor annoyance and I would love it if this is fixed so I don’t have to sort my bag every time I finish the current stack of bolts.
Hey, I was having this same issue to. It is in fact because the first stack ran out to like 4 of the 1000 it had. So i just combined the bolt stack with the other then it fixed it. Still dumb but at least its every stack new i’ll just move the lower amount to.

Swapping stacks doesnt seem to fix it. If it does, its purely random. I cannot get it to register that I moved stacks around or get it to pilfer beyond 1 or 2 parts at a time.

Try “sort bag” when you have bag open to reset the stack.

Pilfer through parts will first go 1 singular time on the stack you selected in the ui and then will continue on in the first stack in your bag order. So let’s say you have a stack of 4 in bag 1 and a stack of 1000 in your reagent bag. You select the 1000 to pilfer and click pilfer all. It will do that stack one time dropping it to 995, and then attempt to pilfer through the stack of 4 since bag1 is ordered first before the reagent bag.
I see this has not been fixed. Pilfer All does not mean rearrange your bags so that the UI knows how to Pilfer All. We should not need to rearrange anything. Minor annoyance until you need to Pilfer a 1000 stack and need to click the button 200 times. I have tried moving stacks to empty bags and that does not work either.
If you have a stack of 4 left over (as in the above example), all you have to do is re-combine it into the stack you want to use once it drops below 1000 (assuming it has room and you didn’t resourceful-proc 2 or more).
It sucks when going through tens of thousands, but it takes a few minutes to even get through one stack of 1000 so checking on it periodically isn’t too bad.
I tried recombining and it still does not work.
Then you have another stack somewhere that is causing it to fail. I have never had an issue once I’ve combined what I have into a single stack.
Remember, even the warbank stacks count for this issue since it can be accessed by crafting anywhere.
OK. Here is what I did to get it to work. A workaround basically. I am not sure if this is what you were saying but this is what I did.
- Moved all bolts I wanted to pilfer out of my bank and into my reagent bag.
- Made sure the upper left hand corner slot in my reagent bag contained the bolts.
- Hit the Pilfer All button.
That seemed to work! I am not sure why but it did. It did not need to be a stack of 1000 either. It could be any number where you would pilfer more than a stack of 5 bolts. I am not sure if this is what you were telling me but I am certainly less annoyed by this now.
