Engineering or blacksmithing

I’m wanting to roll a Paladin and I’m planning to use all specs in raids, groups, delves, and ret spec for bg. Only I’m not sure what progression is most useful. I know engineering is great as a hunter but need opinions for Paladin.

blacksmith
for the repair hammers you can make
and weapons if the rng hates you

If you are looking to make use of your profession in raid… Engineering is the only profession that can do that. But that’s also the only thing that Engineering can do.

Tons of utilities, toys, and wonderful QoL gadgets!
… but besides that it isn’t really something that great.

If you want to be genuinely useful, a guild can always do with another blacksmith. But for raiding specifically … if one REALLY gets into engineering and want to do it, you can single-handedly save hours of progression time for your team.

This thing, if you can get your raid to learn what it does and how it does it… you will genuinely save hours from your raid team in running back to bosses.

When someone needs to go and use a profession table because they needed to make a gem, or a flask, or a cauldron even!

And you can use older expansion’s engineering tools as well. My favourite one is still my Reaves from Legion.

The point is that engineering’s usefulness is going through all of the weird gadgets we get access to, finding something which looks fun, making it, and realize how you can break the game with it. But as a profession… eh, it ain’t that great.
It is more a problem-solving-puzzle-of-madness-of-old-things-no-one-really-understands.

i would say jevees is much better then the rechargeable battery

Yep. That he do be.

But the overall point is still the same: look at Engineering as a swiss army knife of utilities and QoL tools.

I’d go with jewelcrafting and enchanting myself. Save yourself a TON of money this expansion. Make a TON of extra gold as well. You can have the other peasants in the game make all your armor / weapons for you with work orders.

I’d say BS because you can spec into making gear to fill slots you are weak in.

Look at that my main has eng and bs.

blacksmithing for transmog. engineering has a few pets and mounts but most of it is hideously time consuming and expensive to make.
