Engineering in Cataclysm

Today I was looking at Jeeves and I thought to myself, Jeeves is too cool to pass up. So, I looked at cataclysm professions to see what would be the best, but the information I found looked very dated with dead links. So, is engineering still the best profession in Cataclysm or at least good?

There was some cogwheel gems but they only went into engineering hats? If these aren’t updated each tier, then these are kind of worthless, no?

Engineering is the best profession until it gets completely kneecapped in WoD.

You still get to keep your Nitros. Even during Shadowlands, all my M+ toons were Engineers and all had Nitros. Cost me an absurd about of gold to level Wrath Engineering, but was worth every penny.

Here is what I found on google:

Wait I thought they blew up on you a ton

Nitros in keys? Literally never inside of M+. Outdoors, yeah. Like 20% of the time.

This might help.

Not as op dps-wise but you still get all the gadgets which kinda makes for it.

Leatherworking gets really attractive as they have a bracer enchant with main stat.

Tailoring cloak enchant also becomes a massive proc that can overshadow others.

overall a lot of professions are a lot closer.

Engineering is not just a stat boost, it gives so much other quality of life stuff. And it’s just fun. Those glove enchants seem pretty sweet, giving a boost to your primary stat.

If I remember correctly (and it has been a long while ago)…Don’t they completely gut Inscription to the point that it is total almost useless garbage come cata or am I thinking another xpac?

If I’m not mistaken, Cataclysm introduced an often-lethal debuff from nitro failure, and turned an advantage into a gamble.

Yep, some type of fuel leak or something debuff that did % hp damage.

If I recall correctly, WoD was the expansion that pretty much destroyed the usefulness of professions entirely. Anyone could pick up a profession and start making the best stuff right away without having to level it up.

Then there was the garrison where you could further do things like disenchant gear and create potions even if you weren’t an enchanter or alchemist. There were other things too, but memory fails me.
