Engineering in Arenas...Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it

Casual wow pvp enthusiast here. I don’t often comment on the forums, but I needed to get this off of my chest.

Please remember with me the first couple seasons of pvp in TBC. The Nigh Invulnerability Belt was all but required in arena. Anyone who did not have it had an extremely difficult time climbing the arena ladder, even if they were in an optimal 2s/3s team makeup. That coupled with high end PVE gear early on and the high ratings required for pvp gear, we (as a community) saw extremely low participation in arena pvp.

Fast forward to TBC pvp season (3)? and engineering items were removed from arenas with arena gear rating requirements lowered. We acknowledged the issues and made changes that the community stood behind.

TLDR;
Nigh Invulnerability Belt was bad in TBC arena → Similarly nitro boots will also FORCE players to use them. Please don’t forget the lessons already learned (and took formal action on).

Thank You for your time if you read this, I know you all genuinely love and care about this game as much as I do. Cheers!

It’s an actual “#nochange” they can do to make arena season 5 more similar to the original that doesn’t require a stupid amount of back-end work. Just enjoy the meme season (or don’t), and come back and play when they remove all the toys (or don’t).

agree in principle and agree that belt was a joke. but people would still probably take engg for the glove rocket

Where’s the blue post talking about rocket boosts and stuff working in arena in S5? I can’t find it.

I’ve been pinged and bamboozled…

Technically it was just an interview, nothing concrete yet. Wrath Classic Developer Interview with Community Council - Item Level Squish, PvP, Faction Balance - Wowhead News

Ohh, I didn’t read the full interview, I just looked over the community-post and they didn’t even mention it.
