One of the hot topics of the year has been the state of RP on our server. I have, as someone who enjoys D&D and the variety of fantasy RP it helped spawn, been keeping a close eye on things here. I am in no way making an attempt with this post to police RP, but rather to provide insight to help any aspiring role-players and RP organizers.
The most important aspect of any game, whether it be physical or digital, is to keep participants engaged. In a fantasy setting we are able to explore a style of living outside of our own. It gives us a chance to ascend our mundane lives and seek adventure, conquest, or whatever else our hearts desire.
In the real world, we can go wine tasting at a local vinyard. We can go meet new people at a local pub. While these activities are good for supplementing RP to ground our characters a bit, we have to expand our horizons to maintain an engaging experience.
Go fight a mighty dragon. Seek treasure on the high seas. Pledge your undying allegiance to your emperor and fight on the battlefields for the glory of the Warsong Empire, or whoever you may hold a banner for. If you want your fellow players to keep participating, make your RP worth participating in.
As a final note, I encourage everyone on this server to keep WM on at all times. The lifeblood of Emerald Dream is our PvP driven RP. If you don’t want to fight to keep the spark alive, perhaps Moon Guard is a better fit for you.
For the Empire, and for Emerald Dream!
