You’re arguing with the biggest troll on the PvP forums. You could say the sky was blue and they’d just respond with “Proof?”
Moreover, SoD isn’t even real classic lmao. Boomkin are one of the strongest specs in the game in SoD. In original Classic they’re just a meme spec that no one brings because they run OOM after 4 casts
You’re seriously telling me BfA Corruption was good for PvP? Or that Azerite powers were amazing? In Shadowlands, we had to grind Snoreghast just to craft our legendaries, and even then, we had to sink 100k-200k gold into it. Worse, many of the legendary powers were completely unbalanced for months.
PvPers aren’t flocking to Classic because it has PvP servers. They’re playing it because Blizzard actually gives Classic PvP the attention it deserves and keeps it relatively more balanced compared to Retail. Look at the timelines since PvP servers were removed—from BfA to TWW. Retail PvP has consistently suffered from unbalanced systems, gear grinds that force PvE content, and a lack of meaningful updates, while Classic delivers a more streamlined, balanced PvP experience that appeals to players.
The presence of PvP servers isn’t the deciding factor here—it’s how PvP is prioritized and supported. Classic’s PvP success is because Blizzard listens to that player base and gives them systems that work, not because of server design.
They have done PvP tuning passes lmao. The two biggest ones recently were changing 3 Druid runes to not work in moonkin form or changing Dreamstate rune to not apply the increased arcane/nature damage buff to players.
No it wasn’t you dingus. They specifically said it was done because of PvP.
The following Balance Druid updates were implemented on November 19, 2024:
Improved Frenzied Regeneration can no longer be used in Moonkin Form
Survival Instincts can no longer be used in Moonkin Form
Dreamstate’s increase to Nature and Arcane damage taken, can no longer be applied to players.
Developers’ notes: These changes are targeted at Moonkin’s frustrations in PvP encounters. They will still have an option in these slots rune-wise for PvP, albeit way less durable or bursty, in the form of Elune’s Fire. Dreamstate will still provide the mana regeneration in PvP. This also made room for the talent adjustments made recently to buff up Improved Moonfire and Moonfury.
The only PvE change in there were the talent changes to two talents because if they left stuff as is moonkin would be even more oppressive in PvP.
You are, indirectly, since you’re basing your argument on PvP being better in Classic solely because they have PvP servers and pointing to the removal of PvP servers in BfA as the cause of Retail’s PvP struggles. Shadowlands is a crucial part of that timeline because it shows how PvP in Retail struggled due to poor systems and lack of balance, not the absence of PvP servers.
If Classic PvP is thriving, it’s not because of PvP servers; it’s because it gets more attention and delivers a better experience for PvPers compared to what Retail has been offering from BfA onward.
More people are playing on “PvP servers” because earlier iterations of the game are more popular. It has zero to do with the type of server but nostalgia and community.
Most of the people playing classic and its iterations were already playing for years on private servers.
