Sometimes, in WoW as in life things just don't work out. It stinks but most move on. As of late in all content a lot of us are seeing in increase in just general poor behavior, whether it be wishing cancer on people, incest whatever, this community seems to be on a downward spiral. I know they said that they plan to address this issue soon, one has to wonder when it is all going to happen. Even grouping in dungeons and LFRs is so toxic now I don't understand why no one at Blizz/Act has stood up to stop this poor behavior.
Last night in heroics we had a person from a Spanish server who felt the need to use every cuss word on the planet (all done in Spanish), tell someone to be molested by their father, and yeah when we ultimately removed them it carried on for hours through the members of this person's guild. Please get rid of this lame aspect of the community, don't make us wait for a fix to general toxic behavior.

You cant fix people. At least not yet. You have ignore, though.
Ban the meme! End the words "toxic" and "toxicity", for a better tomorrow!
TL;DR:
One idiot was an idiot and OP is attributing it to the entire community.
Personally, I haven't run into any toxic behavior in my dungeon or island expedition runs over the last few months, and I've leveled 4 alts to 120 now.
The only form of policing toxicity I'd be on board with is stealing FFXIV's commendation system to encourage good behavior (even if its "fake" its still good). Anything more direct tends to be stifling despite the good intentions.

I wish it were that easy, its not just in groups anymore this is prevalent in trade and general chats. In vanilla days you discussed politics or religion you were getting warnings. How did it go from that to where we are today?
Send the little deviants my way, I know just how to straighten them out. Bend them over or break them with a whip. Whatever delight they indulge in.

You need to report people when they do that, it's the only way to end such behavior.
Honestly, what are you even asking for? It's not Blizzard's job to babysit you and hand you a lollipop every time a mean person hurts your fee-fees.

Beggars can't be choosers. Various degrees of toxic are probably a third of the player base. Margins are likely down to 15-20% of the playerbase. Do the math.

I started playing in earnest in WotLK and politics and religion have always come up from time to time, along with troll topics like anal and thunderfury spam. Have you recently transferred realms or just returned from a decade break from the game or something?
It's not worth getting people muted/banned because they said something about politics in chat. Some light trolling is pretty par for the course anywhere on the internet, if you can't deal with that you should probably just mute chat.

So i guess you are one of the awesome people who finds this kind of chat ok. See most normal people find that kind of joke/comment to be incredibly offensive, if you are ok with it carry on, they addressed it at blizzcon so it is an issue, and I frankly look forward to seeing more people like you gone.

I dont even care about the political chats, I care about people wishing cancer on others and joking about incest like its a hilarious thing. I am just noting that back in the day politics and religion were taboo but now "go get raped more by your dad" seems to be stand-by comment. I wouldn't have posted this but today i watched 20 people joke about this in trade chat for like 30mins. I wish I could say this was the first time, but no.

Where are all these "toxic" players? I play on Area52, and i RARELY see any of this stuff you are talking about. Ive been playing since 2005 and i have not seen a huge uptick. Ive been in tons of groups for the last 3 years now and might have run into 2 out of hand players, and as for trade, ignore is your friend.
I am not seeing all of these players in groups, im lucky if anyone even has the manners to say "hi" back to you.
I must be old. I remember the days when if someone blew up on you in an online game like that, it meant you won. I know when people tell me to die or what not I laugh and even cause the person to get even angrier.
Stalking would be more serious. Thank goodness Blizzard hasn't forced real ID on us yet or it would be even worse. At most we just need the tools to handle things ourselves. Blocks, ignores, and the ability to hide from select individuals would fix most issues.

Honestly when we were just fizzcrank/aggramar I didnt see a lot of it either but since they mashed us all together its a common thing in this new group.
IT TIME, FOR ULTIMATE DESPAIR!!!

Its crybaby snowflakes.
I either rage back or laugh at them.
Asking some sublimated mommy or daddy to stop having the mean person be mean is...petty, shameful, disgusting, and a form of bullying.
They can't make people behave. But they can discipline those who don't. Blizzard has given you the tools to handle this situation. USE THEM.

But it is their job to enforce their own Code of conduct.

This only helps if you have half a server reporting that player for a month. I've watched a troll in trade say everything and anything, every day for over a month, disappear for 7 days, and then be back every day for another month rinse repeat for over a year. You could "block" him, but he just kept making new alts and running them into town and would switch whenever he was blocked by too many people. And there were about 100 of us who reported him every single day. It still took over a month to do anything. And another month to have them do anything after his 7 day ban was lifted and so on.
I still report people and block people, because it's what I can do. But that doesn't mean I have any faith in Blizzard. Not with the way things have devolved.

We do report them, I do, I know many others who do as well, yet there are the same clowns, on multiple alts doing the same thing over and over.
