End raids need attunements

Think of the Scepter of the Shifting Sands, but on steroids.

End raids are the capstone of the entire expansion, but are treated like any raid release–no flair, no uniqueness, no pomp and ceremony; just a small quest hub.

We need to bring back the Scepter Quest mentality, where players strive to unlock the final raid of the expansion through considerable effort, retreading places from all around Azeroth in order to unlock them.

You want mandatory chores to enter content? No thanks, we don’t need to jump through dozens of hoops to be able to do entry level raiding. You’ve already got a full campaign that builds up to it that you’re free to do. Encouraged to do, even! Have at it!

Maybe just do a pre-patch event to unlock the new raid…
So we have the impression we’re doing something.

That’s the problem with players today. Everything is a chore if Blizzard isn’t handing you welfare loot.

honestly, every single raid should have an attunement quest chain (it would be fine to be account wide) - it would really help pugging because if you invite someone who is attuned, they at least know enough about the raid to finish the attunement questline.

scepter of the shifting sands was probably a bit much - that was way too burdensome: i’m thinking something like champion of the naaru or hand of adal questlines offer a great alternative to scepter of the shifting sands.

That I could agree with.

Because of people like Kiyoko, we don’t have any cool things to do anymore. We had the Legendary Cloak in MoP, Ring in WoD. Fangs of the Father in Cata. All the Legendary quests in Wrath.

Those were fun.

The raid already time gated with how they open wings slowly instead giving away the full raid. This would be dumb to bring back attunements. No thanks.

Eww, no thanks. The raid drops with the patch, you don’t need to hope your server gathers enough zevra hooves and frigid wildercloth to be able to unlock the content.

Those were fun, they should continue doing something like that if they have legendaries instead of what they had in Shadowlands and Dragonflight where you just hope for the random drop.

Calm down. There would be an auto-completion mechanic afterwards.

So a horrible system to not let people raid, which would be a mess with cross-server groups, and would automatically go away after a certain point. That is where you want time invested?

First of all, shards are already cross-server to begin with, so the infrastructure is there.
Second, it’s an event for players to enjoy and work towards with the current Tier gear they have (you’re not exactly upset every time a pre-expansion patch event goes away)
Third, yea, please invest time into other parts of the game instead of worrying about raiders 24/7.

For a server-wide event this is actually the opposite of a useful thing to point out, that you would be encountering people who literally don’t contribute to what you are doing.

It’s an event that the server would need to complete to be able to access the raid that many players want to play. If it was a world event that didn’t detract, that’d be fine by me.

Again, I agree here, but this isn’t an idea to put effort towards other content it is an idea to specifically spite people who want to do the raid by adding random content that they need to rely on their specific server to complete before they are allowed into the raid.

Attunements where a pain to start with, and you want to make them worse. I remember in BC, step one unlock heroics, step two some mandatory quest for the unlock, step 3 more quest lol. If I remember correctly you had to do it for each alt too.

I did a few attunements quest in classic and BC, I don’t look back and say wow that was amazing. Rather all I can remember is the frustration of not getting my drop for the gem or getting a group together to do my side quest.

There is no reason to gatekeep content for players who want to do it behind anything behind anything short of normal gearing. Some people like raid logging, PVP if they had to chores to get to their content, they go somewhere else, and the game would suffer.

The days of attunements are dead and we as a community are better off for them being gone. If you want attunements, I think season of discovery has them.

So random running around for garbage to be able to do stuff?

What do you call the entire quest chain that leads to dungeons? The whole story in the emerald dream ending with going inside to kill fryakk? The whole storyline in ZC ending at the entrance to that raid? Or the whole story leading to vaults?

Or do you mean a server crashing lag fest of back stabbing and such that awards a once in a life time title and mount to show off to the plebs not in a world/server first guild?

You can sit out, do nothing, we’ll unlock it for you while you stay in goldshire inn doing your RP.

attunements belongs in history’s trash.

attunements were bad for the game and I’m glad they’re not a thing anymore.

More likely that it would drag on for weeks and be a nuisance preventing me from engaging with content, hence the exact reason it shouldn’t exist in any form. It is a nuisance that prevents people from accessing the content that they want to play.

Raiders are alreadly made to tolerate crafting for low skilled high time spent players why add more?

You are confusing the Scepter of the Shifting Sands to unlock the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj, which OP briefly mentioned with attunements.

Although I don’t think attunements will ever be back, they had its place and it made the game better back then, as the players also saw obtaining them as part of the game.

Today, with player’s mindset liker yours “gimme loot, I don’t want no effort, I don’t want no consequences, I just want loot” .

Anytime we meet someone saying attunements were bad or trash, it is good because we know we’re seeing a bad player ahead.

Perhaps you wanted to say that in a pre-patch event, before the new raid drops, when there is content starvation, having a new and engaging content would be bad… what bad idea…
