When discussing World of Warcraft you hear the term End Game. But what exactly does that mean. In single player PC and console games the term End Game means that you have completed the game, i.e. finished it. You see the credits role and you close the game and go do something else.
But Wow is a mmorpg. It is always running. So what exactly is the End Game?
End game use to be referred to as max level content but now days i think people use it to describe max difficulty content, generally. But I’ve heard it used both ways
It’s an online MMORPG, there is never an end to the game. End game just means max level current content. You can become mostly complete in a patch, but there’s always more. If you want a game with no updates go play a single player. Why would you play an online game expecting to finish it? What is there to do for years to come if not upgrade, explore, and conquer new challenges?
See what I mean lol. It’s like describing endgame within endgame for some. I feel like there is a deeper point op is trying to make. Trying to see it
In its simplest form, it’s what you do when you’ve finished off the main quest lines as far as I know. After that, end game is what you make of it. For some people it’s pvp for others it’s side quests for others it’s pet battle, mog hunting, mount collecting, alt leveling, and then m+ or raid of varying challenge.
Like any other game, WoW an MMORPG has a FINAL BOSS. What’s the Final Boss? The hardest boss of the game.
In Vanilla, Ragnaros (Molten Core) and Onyxia was the Final Boss of the early phase. On its Final phase, it’s Kel’Thuzad (Naxxramas 40) is the Final Boss.
In modern WoW, Raids were divided according to difficulty. If you want a No-Life Final Boss, it’s Mythic Raid Chrome King Gallywix.
Also on modern WoW, we also have M+ with infinite difficulty. The highest achievement for M+ is to achieve 3000 M Rating. That is around M+15’s. The Bosses of each M+15 Dungeon would be its Final Bosses.
Also on modern WoW, we have Delves. Tier 11 Delves is the hardest. But it’s real Final Boss is Underpin ??. It was Zekvir ?? on Season 1.
There’s you’re Final Bosses. Dont tell us you are tough or you’ve beaten WoW if you haven’t beaten these Final Bosses.
Every Season, there are new Final Bosses.
BTW, LFR was made for people to see the End Result of the Expansion story. Many in old WoW like Vanilla, Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King have not seen the Final Story becoz they never beaten a Raid.
Naxx-40 was a very awesome Raid Dungeon. Only 0.5% saw it in Vanilla. So when Blizz released WoTLK, they re-released an LFR version of Naxx-40 at the start of Expansion, it’s called Naxx-25.
End game is getting the highest level gear you can stand to get.
Fundamentally, WoW is a “get more gear” game. The prime driver for doing things is “get more gear”. Sure, there’s all of the “collection” stuff (mounts, mogs, achieves), but, the core game loop is more gear.
All of the “systems” in the game, now, and historically, are about gear.
So, end game is when you stop leveling your character (which is mostly meaningless today) and accelerating leveling your gear, because none of the gear options really open up until you’re max level.
