End-game herb and mining nodes non-existent in Classic WoW

Curious if anyone at Blizzard plays a character with 300 mining or herbalism, or ever took an economic class in college?

End-game herbs like Plaguebloom, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Black Lotus, and for mining Thorium veins, are effectively non-existant in the game on my server (Pagle) because they are massively farmed/camped 24/7. Zones like EPL, WPL, Azshara, Felwood, and Winterspring are just massively farmed. Heck, even Firebloom, a mid-tier and pretty useless herb, is now massively farmed since players know it will have use in an upcoming patch for Wizard oil.

It’s not uncommon to see players even camping Dreamfoil, Plaguebloom, or Rich Thorium vein node spawn points. Also not uncommon to see a dozen plus players farming a single zone. Makes it tough to farm these mats to craft potions and elixirs, and the prices of the herbs on the Ah are insane.

The spawn rate on these end-game nodes needs to be significantly upped on high-population servers. On, just bring back layering. This wasn’t as much of an issue before layering went away.

The nodes are fine and easy to farm once you spend some time fairing. What server you on?

On Pagle server, and yes they are easy to find and farm if they are there. But that is the problem, the nodes are so overly farmed you can rarely find any spawned. Very frequently a full circuit of a zone will yield at most 2-3 herbs. I just ran a full circuit of EPL AND WPL and walked away with 1 mountain silversage, 1 dreamfoil, and 2 plaguebloom. And doesn’t matter the time of day.

Oh Pagle. I forgot that’s a thing, yeah. It’s pve right? Man no lie those are hard to farm since you can’t contest nodes. My bad

Yes, PvE server and one of the highest player volumes. Tons of players have transferred to Pagle last few months, and once layering went away this issue was just exacerbated 10 fold.

Yeah no kidding I bet that sucker is picked clean.

Pvp solutions…oh wait

we are looking at the results of spawn timers for vanilla-sized servers on classic-sized (read: 3x, 4x the size) populations.

see: changes to lotus spawn timers.

yeah i was gonna say when its faction controlled and your camping / farming an area i see plenty. pve servers really suck for resource gathering.

It’s fine on deviant delight.
Deviate Delight is also a 2k pop server, which is about what they were in Vanilla.

It’s almost like cramming 10,000 people onto a game designed for far less than that makes it harder to farm.

You can forget about effectively farming end-game herbs unless you’re willing to spend hours running around. I’m from Pagle.

I just farm inside instances and that + gold from raids is enough to buy the herbs for consumables.

That’s the joy and perk of being on an overcrowded server like Pagle. The consequence of wanting to be on a mega-server is the Resource Competition.

On my Medium Pop Server (even though I am on the dominant faction), these Herbs are easy to find.

Try Un’Goro. That’s my Mountain Silversage Farm. They go for between 15g-20g per stack, on my Server.

Although, Plaguebloom has been a pretty scarce Herb. I still run into it, from time to time.

It’s even worse when you deliberately chose a medium pop server to avoid this and Blizzard then targets it for free transfers, turning it into a full one. Then what do you do, pay them $25 per character to transfer and hope they don’t do it to your next server too?

I think the free transfer thing needs to stop. If people hate their mega-servers, they need to make that choice of either coughing up the $25, start over on a different server or tough it out.

hakkari thorium in ZG.

The problem is the free transfers hurt people who didn’t transfer. Maybe allow one free transfer anywhere but after that it costs. Then the people whose servers were ruined could at least get a free escape.

Which is why it needs to stop.

I don’t agree with that, at all. It should cost something to switch servers with a leveled character.

Even to the people who had a low pop server and transfers ruined that? Why should they pay for that?

yesterday i farmed 26 plagueblooms, 15 mountain silversage and 20 dreamfoils in 1hour

black lotus are hard to find but all the rest are ok

because it’s a premium feature.
