End Faction "War" And Join Ranks?

Really?

Because there are no “Horde and Alliance factions” here on Earth, and we have NO PROBLEM waging constant war on each other. I just looked up “war” in the dictionary. It didn’t mention needing factions specifically called “Alliance” or “Horde” at all.

It’s almost like you don’t know what that word means.

Seriously, we had the perfect reason and way out of the faction story, for those that wanted it, after Legion when we were leaders of our class “factions” we have another deal coming up with the Covenants. The classes/covenants may not be on the best terms, even coming to blows from time to time but for the most part they can see each other as teammates or rivals.

As far as the “war” in “warcraft” how many wars not between the alliance and horde have there been since WCIII/Vanilla? It seems each expansion is at least one war, if not more:
Vanilla: war against the Qiraji/aqir, war against the black dragonflight, war against ragnaros, and war against the scourge (Naxx ver. 1.0)
BC: war against the Legion
Wrath: The Nexus war (vs. Blue Dragonflight) and against the Scourge/Lich King
Cata: War against Deathwing/Black Dragonflight/old gods
MoP: AvH war, War against the Thunder King, war against Garrosh’s “True Horde”
WoD: War against the Iron Horde then the Legion
Legion: War against the Legion (duh)
BFA: AvH war at start, now War against the Old Gods

There is little reason why the story has to force faction lines on players at this point, let us choose what we want for our characters: if we want to be a faction loyalist, fine, if we want to break away from our faction to defend Azeroth, our “home”, let us, if we want to kill everything, alright.

I am starting to see the faction war (not conflict nor divide) as a prime reason for poor stories because since people play both factions they can’t end any faction war in a way that satisfies either side all the way, if at all. If this was the RTS they could make one ending canon and call it good.

I’m asking for opt-in instanced cross-faction gameplay, no more, no less.

It’d be enough to appease a lot of people without having any actual impact on the people who have great attachment to the faction barrier.

It’s called compromise.

I don’t need another king to tell me Anduin is a traitorous turd bent on peace at any cost. I just want to be there when Tyrande kills him or seizes power.

Yikes? Roleplay forums what?

What are you like a 5 year old?

/gently pats Nillah, the grown ups are talking…of you go now to bed.

yes yes, you the player don’t. But you the Alliance does. If Garrosh the Wolf (aka Wannabe King of Stormwind) decides that he doesn’t like the route Anduin is taking, then Garrosh the Wolf will sieze power with Tyrande as a backer. Then, Garrosh the Wolf will find and extort a new island and try to rid it of the Horde, even though they just found it too. Sound familiar? Being hateful to the enemy faction doesn’t cure anything.

In case you haven’t paid attention to the lore, we have had four official Horde vs. Alliance wars, and the fourth just ENDED with BfA, 8.3, Sylvanas nope-ing out to the Jailer, and Baine returning Derek to Jaina.

Not in that order per se but they all contributed to the peace

Not sure how it would effect the lore, but I think at least for an expansion I’d love to have cross faction simply allowing each to visit there cities.

This would be fine. Warmode off: no auto-attack/auto flag in cities. Warmode on: let’s all get slaughtered in Stormwind for saying Hail to the King. (and /spit at Genn)

I thought it would…but I’m finding it doesn’t really matter to me either way. For many of us, the faction divide will always be there because it was back in the “Old days” when “I was just a pup in Barrens chat” :stuck_out_tongue: For many others of us, its integral to good pvp mechanics, and to even more of us still, "Can’t we all just get along?

I guess I can see fun options for this game in any direction they go. I’m even intrigued by Blizzard possibly adding a third faction that’s either way evil or way neutral and how that would work with what is already here.

…But I digress. I could go on for ages.

I think the idea of faction war doesn’t fit in with the WoW we know today. The alliance and horde that are involved in the conflict are no longer the same alliance and horde that started all this faction war narrative. Too much has changed to maintain the old reason to have war.

Also, both factions have teamed up far too many times and has benefited a lot from it. A faction war wouldn’t make much sense today.

Agreed.

Sounds a little snarky but not in a mean way. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, that’s appropriate. I more meant when the thread was getting derailed a little bit along the way that since you weren’t responding, the thread topic had been covered. It wasn’t a jab at you.

did you have to quote the entire comment? Martua posted literally right before you did. Could have simply responded to his post specifically.
To each their own, I guess.
I was thinking Merchants/Profession Masters would be Yellow and guards and ‘citizen’ npcs would be orange, to fit the ‘lore’ of WoW, should factions be dissolved yet maintained. A tauren walking around would be ‘untrusted’ by a woman and her children, but a merchant needs to make money somehow.

Agreed. I main Horde but love my dorf pally. I’d definitely play him more if I could raid with my guild.

Race change him to Tauren then. If we can’t execute the traitor when he comes back from doing traitor things, then he can’t go as a dwarf in the first place.

Strange the game has been around a long time, this sounds like Alliance players are sad they don’t have enough people to play with so they want the mighty horde to babysit them

Pretty sure the factions only group up when the other result is extinction

I’m sorry, RP is not my thing.

Pretty sure that the theme of BfA was extinction. Eradicate the threat that is Alliance/Horde once and for all. Using Islands. And Table Missions. And more Islands.

I mean, people have been asking for cross faction play since vanilla, so this would be wrong lol.
