Brother, PvE and PvP are two separate things. Literally nobody is trying to PvP when they’re getting DMF. It has absolutely nothing to do with your server choice. Let’s not pretend it does.
The only problem is that you can end up with a bad start in WSG or AB where you’re outnumbered because of people instantly AFKing out. That’s not great. But I mean… Meh. Not a big enough problem to require a solution IMO. Usually other people will fill those spots pretty quick.
Although I suppose if you had to get out of DMF without jumping in a BG it would force more DMF raids. But then you have the problem of people griefing DHKs. So if they were to do something like you suggest they should also get rid of DHKs.
I mean someone had to come up with a solution to the man beards camping DMF for the lolz gg git wrekt scrubs, and they did. If PvP server kids weren’t so toxic this wouldn’t be a problem.
Is the issue here that people are joining a queue for BGs, likely via group, then when the queue pops they grab their DMF buff and enter so they have less change of having it purged but someone trying to snipe?
Yep. If it’s Elwynn Forest DMF and I want my DMF buff the safest way to get it without a raid is to run in and stand next to Sayge and allow yourself to die and just before you die queue up for a BG (cannot queue while dead so you want to do it just before dying). Then you run back to your corpse and wait for the queue to pop before you take the rez. Then when the queue pops you take the rez, get the buff and then immediately enter the BG. For extra safety pop shadow/flame reflector, LIP etc… immediately after rez. Once you’re in the BG if the BG hasn’t started yet you re-boon. If it has started you /AFK out and re-boon from wherever the party leader queued.
You could stay in the BG if you re-boon in the BG but most people will just AFK out.
I see. I mean, this all speaks to the larger problem that world buffs have 100% gotten out of hand, but that’s nothing new these days. I’ve never really understood the appeal of world buff denial, so the only thing that really bothers me about this is that it’s disruptive for people actually wanting to play the BG. I read your comments above and for the most part you’re right, but it’s an unnecessary price random strangers have to pay.
Either way, if this is something that we felt needed to be “fixed”, it seems to me that the simplest solution would be to just have you come out of the BG where you went in.
Yeah nah. I’m constantly in WSG’s or AB’s where alliance has 2-4 less players than horde. Alliance BG pvp on ERA is the true hardcore mode of wow.
I thought it was just horde players queuing on their alts to force a pop and then afk. But it’s actually parselords? Wow I didn’t think I could despise parsers anymore than I already did.
I mean if you are on a pve server you can just hug the other faction while getting the buff so the server choice should have an impact. But like you said it doesn’t, you can just bg cheese it.
True, on a pve server you have zero opposition. PvP servers you may have some unless you use a work around. But I agree people aren’t looking to PvP when getting the buff. But you will have some people that will look for pvp around it because it’s a high traffic area even if some deem that to be “griefing “.
Remember when world buffs were all purgable and there was no lame-o-boon? The tears were glorious. All those people on PVP servers who didn’t belong on PVP servers.
Lets bring that back. All world buffs purgable and no more booning on pvp servers!
I mean do you want to play vanilla wow or hello kitty world buff island?
One of my characters that I dont play has both Might of Stormwind and Warchief at the same time.
The guys that keep asking for MoS forget or dont know they stack and forget or dont know that for melee they will both be expected if they are both in game.
Adding MoS will damage the horde, and this is why I am against it.
The real problem is the stupidity of the Purge ability as a whole. I’m not advocating for any change because it’s not that serious to me, but it’s always been kind of BS. Purge should only apply to player-applied buffs. The idea that your average Joe can purge away a powerful buff granted because of an all-powerful dragon’s death is kind of ridiculous. By that logic, those who purge should also be powerful enough to grant equally huge buffs.
