Enchanting...I dont get it

I started the game about middle of legion. I ended up taking most of the professions on one character or another.
So tailoring and enchanting are two that I kept on one character because I end up using those to some degree. also have LW up thru mists content on another character that Ive kept. I have JC on another character that I stopped even bothering with after seeing the ridiculous prices in BFA, practically giving stuff away. I also had made a ton on JC in legion…so this is very confusing.

When I started in legion I was making an absolute KILLING on selling item enchantments (2000g+ for easy to make enchants). But thru BFA I noticed there was little point in bothering with it, my time was better spent farming mogs and pets than bothering with Enchanting.

Im looking at enchanting crap on the AH to use on my gear…faster farming, shorter hearth CD, +X to all stats, etc…but the prices are bargain basement nothing already this expansion like they were last expansion.

What is going on with some of these professions? Why was it so easy to make a ton of gold with enchanting in Legion, but in BFA it went to pot and seemingly its going to be at least that bad in this expansion.
Are players just not using enchants on their gear anymore?

The enchanted items needed for legendary crafted gear is selling for 2k a pop on my server, and until mythics were released the eternal crystals were selling for 15k.

Really? Well thats encouraging to hear.
I doubt I’ll mess with it for now, but just wondered why the prices seemed to be so low already.

There is an issue of needing 115 enchanting to make the legendary enchanted items, you need those eternal crystals to level. So its a huge gold sink before you can make it back

Professions go through waves like this. It also doesn’t help that the expansion just came out, so a lot of people are still leveling their first character, and aren’t going to drop money for enchants on gear they’ll quickly replace.

Wait till people start biting into the first raid tier.

I remember back when you couldn’t sell enchants on the AH at all, and had to spam Trade instead. Enchanters have it pretty good these days.

People want to level their enchanting so they can make better stuff, but since everybody is leveling their enchanting, there are tons of enchants on the market. In addition, there is low demand because most people know they’re going to get lots of upgrades once the raid/m+/PvP season comes up (one week from now) and are thus not caring as much about enchanting their gear. High supply and low demand means dirt cheap enchants.

It works for me! I bought hundreds of enchants that I’m going to plop in the guild bank in a week or two.

I’m making loads of cash on enchanted leather, bars and cloth. But I also have like 500k invested into it at any given point in time. Sure wish I knew there was no cooldown on them, as I didn’t want to pay the 200k or whatever for the epic shards to level it…

The enchants themselves, I would say a lot of people leveled enchanting and a lot of people aren’t enchanting their gear. It’ll get better when more content is out and more people have gear they actually want to spend 5-10k to enchant. Also, the epic Mats are absurd in price. As they fall down, you’ll be good to go.

Either way, disenchanted BoP items are making more money than anything else IMO

A lot of the crafted items are really cheap right now because people have been trying to level their crafting skill. Then they just try to sell off whatever they made to get a few gold back. Conversely, mat prices are through the roof, because people are trying to level their crafting skill.

I’m betting enchants won’t do as well this xpac, because you only need a new enchant when you replace the piece of gear. Since there’s a lot fewer options for upgrades this time around, that means buying fewer enchants for them. The legendary crafting system might make up for that though.

You know, I go into every expansion knowing this fact, yet still cannot resist the temptation to dump ore into Blacksmithing. I never cash in when the market’s hottest.

I didnt think about that, lol…makes sense. maybe thats what was going on in BFA too.
I started mid legion…everyone would have maxed out by then on professions…prices probably stabilized by the time I came into the game.

Im holding on to mine. I make most of my gold farming mogs and pets not on mats. Just holding them for if I end up needing them and dont want to have to buy.
Think Ive already farmed at least 3000 of some ore, lol. but it seems to be a staple for engineering crap, so that works out, at least
