Enchanting

Blizzard, could add Enchanting Vellum to optimize the sale of enchantments and marketing in AH. It would be a good optimization considering that WOW SOD has many changes and experiments.

They addressed this. Can’t remember how Aggrend put it but basically they don’t want to add them because they want enchanting to feel exclusive. I can’t find the blue post, but I know that he said something like ā€œexclusiveā€ because it really made no sense. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Meh, can’t find the blue.

Lots of these posts though.

I don’t know what’s unique about spending hours in the city trying to sell and advertising on chat. I doubt there is anyone who has Enchant and enjoys doing this.

I think the best argument form enchanting vellum is:

I’m my guild’s enchanter and subsequently the only member of my guild without access to hard to farm enchants on my alt.

Just BOA vellums would be a huge QoL improvement that harms no one. (And it wouldn’t fold the AH so it wouldnt take away from everyone else’s classic experience)

why i just click my macro to to put a message in trade chat every so often and then tab out and back in when i get a message and I get to interact with my fellow wow classic players which I love so much :two_hearts: :kissing_heart:

BoA vellums would be nice though

Honestly. I have no idea why OG Blizzard did Enchanting they way they did.

It’s not like they didn’t have another profession that made an item that anyone could use to apply an effect to their item.

How hard would it have been to have Enchanting make ā€˜scrolls’ like a Leatherworker makes Armor Kits or a Blacksmith makes Sharpening/Weight-stones.

NO ONE WANTS TO SIT IN TOWN AND SPAM FOR WORK.

BTW: Aggrend’s excuse is BS (not the profession). Making the above idea happen would require massive rewrites of how the Enchanting portion of the Crafting Code works. And that means ā€˜spending money on a product that only has tangential profit’ (because Retail and Classic share the same sub; some of us are exclusively playing Classic while others play both).

I’m probably missing out on a goldmine because I have enough gold now to get an arcanite rod and finish leveling enchanting but without vellums I spend 0 time selling enchants. I enchant my own gear with the best and make sigils but it’s so time consuming selling enchants it’s not worth it.

Add it as a vendor item. Make it 1G base price (before reputation discounts). This will help keep the AH from being flooded with vellums with +1 stamina/bracer by making the vellum cost greater than the cost of the materials for low-level enchants.

This! I don’t mind offering my services to the community but not having these rare enchants for my alt sucks

The quality of life in the game would improve and the profession would have more value for those who spend time collecting materials. Access to the enchant would be easier for those who wanted to optimize their equipment. I believe the vast majority of SOD players would be interested.

I’ve no problem with this.

Put them on the AH so I can flip them and use the gold to buy more ponies.

I enjoy advertising in cities. I’ve met quite a few people that I’ve had good conversations with, through giving them enchants. I also like enchanting because it’s pretty much the only profession where you don’t have to keep tabs on the auction house to make sure you aren’t being undercut, or to see if prices are shifting in general. It’s a lot more hands off once you’ve taken the time to farm certain formulas that are gated behind reputation grinds or low drop chances, and I appreciate that.

Vellums wouldn’t stop you from advertising in cities or force you to use the AH.

Bingo. At least let us Enchant the gear of our Alts.

He wants Server crafters to be known in their community. Which sounds nice and worked well in 2004 when the servers were small but with these Mega servers it’s a bad take.

Please no one use the ā€œsocial experienceā€ argument for not having Vellum’s.

Mega servers and destroying the one RP-PVP server that offered a ā€œknow the community feelā€ proves Blizzard does not care about the social experience.

No, but if my experience with other professions is anything to go by, it will severely reduce the effectiveness of advertising and incentivize using the AH. Different professions I’ve leveled (tailoring/blacksmithing/leatherworking) rarely get contacted by people to make things, even with advertising, because anything someone needs from those professions can generally just be bought on the AH for the same price and less time.

People will readily remove player interaction components if it’s more convenient, I’m guilty of it too. I think the only time in SoD that I’ve reached out to someone to have them make me something was for a BS to make me the arcanite rod needed for my runed arcanite rod. I would rather enchanting not lose this unique quality.

No one guaranteed you a market.

I’m just stating my personal opinions on the matter. I never said anyone guaranteed me anything. It’s not for me or you to decide regardless.

As are we all.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

If we look at the interaction of people, it is already harmed, but just talking about SOD, we have the no kill loop where there is no interaction at all, it’s just a rush to finish in less time, we have the runes and in some cases you have to have people to get some and it’s very difficult to have someone to help, social interaction is rare in any game these days. Vellum would not harm in any way what people think or do socially.
