Enchanting UI Bug - Incorrect Tooltips / Weapon Images

Would really like a response to this either here or in game. My support ticket was given a generic boilerplate response and marked closed resolved.

I would also advise any enchanters out there to be very careful before applying enchants with valuable/expensive mats. I’m including a summary and a link to a video outlining the issue below.

The character in question is an Enhancement Shaman. Both the main hand and off hand weapons which are equipped have the same item name but different item levels.

Applying the Sophic Writ enchant to my main hand worked fine. However, when attempting to apply the same enchant to my off hand I found that I did not see an image for my off hand weapon in the item selection pane of the enchant UI.

However, one of the items DID show my off hand weapons’ tool tip when I hovered over it. I assumed (you know what they say) that the tooltip would be the accurate indicator of the item that the enchant would be applied to and that perhaps what I was seeing was just a visual bug with the item image.

However, after applying the enchant to the item whose tooltip said it was my off hand weapon, I found that the item did not receive the enchant. Rather, the enchant got applied to a different item in my bags. Interestingly enough, that item ALSO shows an incorrect image in the enchant UI.

Blizzard - Can I please get the materials refunded to me? And can you please advise if there is a planned fix coming for this? I do not see this on your known issues list.

I’ve created a video and uploaded it to Youtube which illustrates the issue. You can watch that here.

That’s awful. And from a fellow enchanter, I appreciate the warning. I think I’ll go back to enchanting my own gear the old-fashioned way, just to be safe. I kinda like the Select Item option, and it’s certainly useful when making multiple vellums. But I’m glad we still have the option to pick the target the same way we did for 18 years.
