Just got one by hitting renown 20 in Loamm. I want to upgrade one of my 424 ilvl gear to 437.
When I place the recrafting order, all the ingredients are in (including as an optional reagent the EWSC, which says 424-437) … yet in the top left corner of the recrafting window, it shows my 424 to be recrafted to … 424?
What am I missing?
thats the lowest that crest can make. the UI window will always display the lowest quality. The quality will be determined by the crafter, if its a public order.
The crest does not 100% a 437, just UP to it

Change the quality to rank 4. It will show 434. You can’t specify rank 5, but that’s what you usually get when the crafter has max inspiration.

Thank you both for your responses.
Depends on the crafters skill and quality of mats and the recipe difficulty caused by item level and embellishment etc… just shop around for a 5 star craft.

You can specify rank 5, it’s just that the crafter can’t do it if they rely on inspiration proc to do it.

you can also only specify a rank if its a personal/guild order. you leave it to chance with public.
Honestly the only thing i’ll put up public are crests. I don’t trust people on public orders.
It’s definitely a leap into the abyss with public orders. This time I sent the order to the player who originally crafted the gear I want upgraded.
In season 1 public orders always gave garbage, but I’ve had a lot more luck since Season 2 started, every public order I’ve done recently came out max quality.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but when I’m doing public orders, I’ll usually recraft it until I get max rank (unless it’s something that requires unusual mats like some of the profession gear). Just because the only orders I accept are the ones where they actually provide the mats and a decent tip in the first place.
That, and by now I’m sure a lot of people have their skill trees filled out to the point where getting max quality isn’t difficult.
I mean i see you are from stormrage as well, you see all teh bogus crafting orders up? thats enough to not even put a public order that has a quality attached to it
