Enchant restrictions for heirlooms: why?

Just curious why there’s a restriction on not letting us use enchants/kits from previous expansions on heirloom gear.

For those who don’t know: many enchants/kits require you to be above level 30 to apply the enchant/kit, but the armor CANNOT be above an ilvl of 50. The obvious problem here is that by the time your character is level 30, the ilvl of the armor is WAY above 50.

Why?

Just enchant the gear on a different character and then mail it to the one you want to use it on. That’s what I do.

Look at the armor ilvl when the character level isn’t at 32 yet:

Heirlooms suck so much i don’t even bother using them anymore when i’m leveling alts.

They kinda goofed ilvl stuff for enchanting heirlooms

They don’t suck, though. Like, there’s very little subjectivity to it. They’re better than greens, and only marginally worse than blues. And that marginal difference is more than made up for by the scaling of the gear as you gain levels, meaning the blues don’t remain better for very long, and you just automatically have upgrades in eight slots every level.
