I’ve read different opinions in search results on the web. Currently my game is running in Fullscreen, however HDR is not enabled, and the mouse can freely move to the other monitor as if it is in Fullscreen Window mode.
You must enable Windows Auto HDR by enabling HDR within Windows. Once that is completed on the monitor that supports HDR, as long as you are playing on that monitor you should be golden.
Thanks for the info. I do already have Auto HDR enabled in my Windows Settings.
Once in a while the client starts in HDR mode I believe, and when I alt-tab out the monitor goes into its normal cycle of switching out of HDR mode that I normally see with games, but when I tab back to the game it never switches back. Sometimes it just starts up in SDR mode though as well.
Do both monitor support HDR? Could be an issue where the game is coming back to the wrong monitor or something is conflicting with reapplying HDR when switching back to the program. Try setting which monitor it displays on in game. Under System → Graphics → Monitor. You could also try playing in Windowed mode and then at the top right maximize the screen. If you find yourself alt-tabbing this would be the best way to go.
So my main monitor is a 4k Samsung with HDR. My side monitor is an older 1440p Asus that does not support HDR.
I tried moving the game between monitors using the settings but it didn’t change anything when moving back to the main one regarding HDR.
The main issue is when the game is not using HDR the brighter colors appear washed out (icons, armor glow effects, etc) and if I turn down the SDR brightness slider in Windows settings the game gets too dark. The few times I’ve had it run in HDR before alt-tabbing it looked great. They may have been after reboots, I’m not certain there.
