Enable Live Proximity Chat In Wow For A More Social Experience

I know there are several ways to use voice chat in Wow. But all of them require 3rd party apps. Or with the in-game Wow chat you must click on a character to talk live. I think.
Anyways I was wondering what people would think of Wow enabling proximity live chat so people in the local area could talk to each other without having to click on someone. Like people can do in the real world but in game.

Like your character walks into a tavern and can say hello everyone, and all players in the tavern can hear him. And you can hear their replies, and the conversations taking place by other players in the tavern.

In theory this should make the game feel more alive. And would enhance the social aspect of the game.

But I don’t know if this is even possible? So what do you think?

Didn’t you just want WoW to be a single player game like a few hours ago?

I’m just looking at the options. Examining the possibilities.

no they dont, Blizz has a built in, it sucks but it’s there.

and Hell NO, /s is good enough, the trolling and crying that would happen couldn’t be measured with modern mathematics.

Pretty sure the guys doing addons for OnlyFangs in Classic HC managed to get a form of proximity chat to work.
So it’s probably possible.

No thanks. I’d rather not hear people I don’t have an interest in talking too. The panhandling and trolling would be awful.

Sounds great for people who want it. As long as I can mute it please!

WoW has voice chat built in.

nobody uses it.

because nobody wants to hear squeaky voiced teenagers and manchildren spewing racist “jokes” or grown manchildren chewing food with their mouth open and breathing heavily in voice chat. which is inevitably what happens in every MMO that had voice chat that people actually use.

we’d rather stick to our Discords for voice chatting.

pass.

the few times i tried the ingame voice thing, it was terrible. breathing sounds, munching on snacks sounds, sniffles sounds, static, horrible.

imagine live proximity mics… hell nah.

if it becomes a thing make sure it can be turned off

Folks at Moonguard are gonna be excited

Are you feeling lonely today? I feel that way sometimes. Again, if you wanna chat sometime, let me know. Discord or in game. But honestly, this is a horrible idea, I don’t really need Elon/Incel/Whatever fans running around using curse words/racial epithets/vulgarities just to be edgy so it would immediately be turned off.

No I don’t want to hear you trying to talk over your screaming siblings while your mom vacuums your room

Proximity chat, but when Rogues and Ferals talk add sound effects so it sounds like whispers in the wind.

DKs talented into Riders of the Apocalypse, while talking half the time Horses are neighing in the background.

I’ve watched enough Rust videos to know what a terrible idea this is.

Whispers in the wind eh?

“Psst. I hear you like pineapple on your pizza…”

What could possibly go wrong. =p

Its actually pretty cool, I like how ESO on console has proximity chat but I was disappointed that its not there on the PC version. It doesn’t get as crazy as one might think, Well, it might on moon-guard lol…

Wulf threads usually don’t make sense and also contradict each other

This should be added!

They could use /y for a larger range than /s but not unlimited

And they could use /1 for zone-wide

Someone should get to work on this and add it 20 years ago!

Not a fan of it in other games. Probably wouldn’t be a fan of it here either
