Empyrean Power fun

Somehow, this single trait has made the spec much more enjoyable. The rotation gaps are still there but nowhere near the extent of pre-8.1.

between it and the fix to divine purpose procing off itself it feels alot of fun to play tbh.

Yeah I agree. I had tons of fun playing after the patch. The experience of nice back to back AoE procs is back and I love it. Reminds me of WoD a lot.

I’m loving my current spec running both EP and Lights decree crusade. I didn’t feel like a carry for once in raid.

My Sims still show divine purpose out performing crusade with lights decree. Once I get 2 or 3 I’m sure things will change

I have 2 x Light’s Decree and Crusade sims highest for me on ST (DP for Hectic Add Cleave). Not sure how viable Crusade will be in PVP, but man it feels good not having downtime again. It feels like it lasts forever compared to normal wings, and you are hitting something every GCD when fully stacked.

Currently I’m running 1 each of Light’s Decree, Empyrean Power and Avengers Might. Not sure if it’s the best set up but man it feels good!

it will get nerfed. no single trait that isn’t even stacked adds this much damage to any class. it’s beyond broken. enjoy it while you can, i sure am. ret is so fun right now.

Which will get nerfed in your estimation, Empyrean Power or Light’s Decree?

On another note, does Empyrean Power stack? I assume the increased damage stacks, but the chance to proc doesn’t increase with additional traits.

I mean they’re both reduced in PvP combat already, so probably neither. LD is there mostly for the extension and EP for the proc. So the only way it’ll be nerfed is nerfing DS dmg, which they had just buffed.

From a PvE perspective, LD probably since it’s being double/triple stacked for ST and AoE.

This may be more of a “you should sim it” style question, but at what point does divine purpose come ahead from inquisition? I’m assuming at “higher” levels of haste.

divine storm is not nerfed in pvp anymore. with empyrean it adds dps to single target since it’s free while also giving you cleave. that is just with 1 trait. decree is really only for the extra 5 seconds. the damage is nerfed in pvp big time. no other trait right now is giving you the damage free divine storm procs are giving at the end of a game. and that’s just with 1x. you have to have that trait now.

Correct, I was more so talking about the LD and EP traits being reduced but I was mistaken that EP isn’t reduced in PvP, just LD. For some reason when I read the list of nerfed traits on the 12/12/18 hotfix my brain just went to thinking that Righteous Conviction was EP.

That’s my b.

Currently with what I go with 2x Expurgation and going high crit for more procs with it, I’m averaging at 4k ticks up to 7k tick crits, so that’s a 12k-21k dmg on BoJ crits (since the dot gets 3 ticks before expiring) that you can boost with more crit chance base stats and with wings when you aren’t spec’d into Crusade.

Another ret I know runs a 1x EP and his DS are going on average 8k-11k on a single target. EP is definitely better if you have guaranteed cleave like inside of BGs and you’re just spamming DS into a heavy melee line, so the choice can go either way.

You guys think 1 EP, 1 LD, & 1 Expurgation, or 2 x EP and 1 LD for PVP?

Love it, not just more AoE damage, but fun to the spec.
I would love to have it as a baseline passive spell in the future.

Expurgation doesn’t really work unless you’re stacking high crit chance. Most people I see report that they’re using at least 1xLD, some doing 1xEP, then last slot fills the role for what your team is facing. I personally like the high crit/vers with zeal/bow, and 1xLD, 1 or 2 Expurg, 1xBFP if you’re running with another quick attacking/high sustain dps for easy BFP proc generation.

But outside the 1x LD, there is no set in stone build atm, just a lot of testing and several builds that have found success by others. Just have to wait and see how the meta changes to see how we can react to it.

Like, all the current builds out there can all be irrelevant once everything settles down and people start really pushing with certain setups, and who knows the new go to might be something not noticed yet, just have to wait and see what happens after the dust settles.

best thing is you only need the 1 trait. the extra damage doesn’t really matter. it’s the free proc you want.

Right, same with the LD trait  The extra splash dmg is pretty good for more dmg during DS spam, but you mostly want it for the 5 extra seconds on Avenging Wrath/Crusade. SO that Crusade lasts 30 seconds, which is closer to how it was in Legion when you had all those AW relics.

all traits should be this way where you don’t stack them for some overpowered bs. they need to lower scaling of traits, but give them a function to where they give flavor with only needing 1.
