Empowered abilities

Anyone else feel like there is a massive missed opportunity for evoker empowered abilities to make their way into more classes to spice up some of the casts that make sense.

Full Moon being a perfect example. Each 1/3rd of the cast will empower the moon from new to half to full.

Feel like there could have been some interesting interactions with this casting style with a lot of classes

While it’s interesting that they added a new gameplay mechanic, I actually kinda hate how it works. I find it super awkward to press and hold a skill instead of just press and releasing it. Not my jam so I would hate to have it on druid, even if it could open up new gameplay opportunities.

Honestly, I’d rather have combo/chain casts where you have a sequence of abilities that, if pressed in order, successively empower the next (some game I can’t remember did something like this).

I’m not saying your idea is bad, it’s just definitely not for me :frowning:

I feel the same as Tubbly.

It’s just awkward for me to hold until I get the level I want.
I could probably get used to it eventually and develop the muscle memory, but why?

Wow
Druid
Feral
Bloodtalons

Used to be this way in legion wasn’t it?

being a keyboard turner, i did too, until i went into the game settings and changed that ability to instead press once to start it and press a 2nd time to activate it early… meaning- if u don’t hit it the 2nd time, it’ll fully power up and cast.

I played with this setting and I just could not get it to work! It had the same behaviour checked or unchecked. It could very well be an interaction with an addon I use (likely ElvUI), but I’m not prepared to stop using that

Regardless, if they made the default behaviour based on cast time instead of hold, that would absolutely be a much better experience. I just wanna press the button and then let my fingers do other things, which is mostly to move to the next thing I want to do after the cast is done.

that’s a good possibility. i never liked elvui, and i noticed i dodge A LOT of issues my friends and guildies deal with every patch.

For the most part it’s been great… so much so that I choose to financially support it from time to time, but it’s had a couple issues to be sure. Especially lately around patch time.

I was wondering if I could reduce my reliance on it with the new UI overhaul, but it didn’t really hit the mark. I’m getting older now and I need stuff to be easier to see. ElvUI does a good job of that, both versions of the Blizzard UI don’t (for me).

But yea, not having a reliance on it definitely helps mitigate some issues lol.

I wasnt so crazy about the push and release at all. When i messed around on evoker i didnt mind the 2 button push instead.

Theres just lots of cool themed spells we can do with stages of cast times.

Imagine the old hurricane ability but the storm aoe size grows as the cast gets longer.

Was just kinda a let down when i thought about how much flexibility could come with this cast style. But only 1 class saw the mechanic and its basically just longer cast more targets. Or upfront damage vs dot damage.
