Empire Total War

Came out in 2009.

It needed a day one patch to even start.

It was full of bugs.

The bragged about A.I. was so bad that when the game launched it was incapable of doing things like naval invasions and during battles would frequently break and stop responding. It was later revealed that CA faked game footage by using devs controlling units and claiming it was the A.I.

CA swiftly cracked down on any negativity being spread on their or steam forums. They tightly control communication surrounding them and their games.

The launch of the game was so poor that the producer wrote a blog post where he admitted that he had several copies sitting on a shelf that he was supposed to send to friends but was too embarrassed to because he knew the game was in a bad state.

Creative Assembly has been a garbage company pulling the same stunt for 14 years and their super devoted fanbase always runs back for more.

But it has warmed my heart a bit seeing even the most loyal of them finally getting fed up with the nonsense of CA like price hikes and poor current releases. Between that and the dev leaks, finally seeing them have to take some accountability is good, so I felt like sharing.
