I had been working on this, and then bagged it, as I was told that their were people who didn’t want to join another discord out of fear of being treated badly for a second time. I am in that same boat with you. As I said in the thread, this is something for EVERYONE. I am not doing this for myself, for my guild, or for any other selfish and self centered reasons or some manifesto agendo. The only thing that I would be getting out of it is the fun factor of being apart of a community. Something that I hope everyone loves altogether.
I’m going to let you guys know now that Discord now polices their servers. They had to do this as they got into some legal trouble. I can’t remember exactly what I was told. This means if you start trouble or commit slander/libel or send links through the Discord channels or in Private Messages, done in an effort to harm another, you can and will be made accountable to it. They’ll ban you and if their are any legal issues that will be taken care of.
The same goes for raiding. For those that do not know, raiding is when a bunch of people get together and attack another server once they’ve joined. It’s really sad to be. I want more than anything to just have fun with everyone and for all of us to build something special.
Their is either a bot or an addon that you can get for a Disc server to increase the a message beyond the 2000 character limit per post. If you guys have have things that you would like to see on the server let us know. I only have one guy as a mod right now who offered to help out. We’re clearly going to need more mods. Also if we miss something, let us know, so we can deal with it/fix it.
One other thing that I would like to add. I know that their are people who have pointed the finger at this person or that person or some other person. Than that grows to guilds, and it only gets even worse there. This is a second chance for some people. Please remember that. If you have a beef with someone, please don’t bring it into the server, leave it outside before you join up. People make mistakes, that’s called life.

Personally I’m not fazed much by someone talking crap to me/about me in a chat server, but on a macro level I see how this could be an issue. Some players get overly emotional about the game, and could use the discord chat server to air those emotions. Levels of maturity and self-control vary among random players.
I guess there’s no way to vet the turds before they get on the boat?
I totally get that, believe me I do. I remember how bad the NAG board was for Sol Ro and that was a spark that was unbelievably bad at the end. People were getting doxed. When I put it at the post, leave all grievances at the door. If something happens where someone goes off the rails we’ll have to deal with it.
I found out through some guildmates in the Fist that Discord is not being “policed”. Supposedly their was slave trading going on or some such and they did nothing about it. Now they want to deal with things. If anyone crossed that line, I would absolutely ban them and turn them over to Discord.
By the way all you have to do is turn on admin mode on Discord once it’s started. I always run it because I’ve seen alot of abuse going on and I won’t put up with that. I know some people are passionate about the game and passionate about PvP, I get that too, believe me I do LOL. No one should have to be treated badly in a space where everyone should be equals.
As much as myself and the guys who act as a moderator are caretakes and here to help take care of you guys. I know I won’t make everyone happy, but I’m still going to try my hardest. I would also love to hear opinions of people that should be mods. I don’t want this to turn into a war either. It should never be that. The plan is “hopefully” to get an even portion of mods from both Horde and Alliance.
I also have a special channel setup already for guild leaders so we can all talk about things as needed. Trust me brother when I say that I have my own trepidations about all this. But what is worse? Trying and things never changing, or trying and having hope that we will help make things better? Also Tan, you are one of the few that knows me from way back when. I am pretty sure you know this isn’t some cheap power grab for me or an ego trip. I genuinely and truly want to help.
Edit: Also I have not been able to properly promote it in game because I’ve been extremely sick. It sucks, but it is what it is. I’m only partially functional even as I write this.
