Emeni Soulbind - For Thee But Not For Me

Howdy,

Just wanted to take a quick minute to report a rather interesting bug. Recently (the last month or so) I decided to complete the Necrolord campaign on my Mage so I could try out Necro Frost. However, I am what you’d call an anti-completionist. I do the least I can get away with. So as soon as I found out that Emeni required me to do stuff with the Stitchworks, I bailed from the quest chain. As a result, my Mage cannot choose the Emeni soulbind. This is obviously normal. My DK, likewise, cannot choose Emeni, also normal.

However, any new character that I level or with which I complete the intro questline (where you raise your runeblade and such in the sanctum) is able to choose Emeni. I recently leveled a monk, who was able to choose Emeni immediately after unlocking Marileth and speaking to the construction assistant where Emeni is during her quest chain (Emeni herself is not there on these characters). Likewise, I logged on to my other monk who had not completed the aforementioned intro to the Necrolord covenant. This monk also was able to talk to the assistant and gain the Emeni soulbind.

tl;dr: Characters who had not joined the Necrolord covenant prior to completing the Necrolord campaign on another character have the Emeni soulbind unlocked. Those who did join prior to the campaign completion do not.

If you get to 80 renown on one character in the necrolord covenant, then any subsequent character that does the skip gets all the soulbinds due to said skip.

Normally that is true, but Emeni is an exception because she requires a separate questline to unlock her. If it were just because I unlocked the skip, then my DK and other necrolord toons could use her as well, but they can’t. Only characters who completed the Necrolord intro AFTER I finished the Necrolord campaign can access Emeni. She’s still locked for the rest (but Bonesmith Heirmir is not, to be clear; just Emeni).

Yeah, that would be the way you’d think it would be, but unless you used the skip on each of those characters, they would still need to do the quests to get Emeni.

The skip isn’t a skip though. It’s just talking to the soulbinds after the covenant intro. You’re not skipping any of the campaign itself. And I was able to unlock Heirmir just fine on other toons without redoing the campaign. But Emeni is not unlocked.
