Emberthal steels herself?

I thought Dracthyr are genderless?

Where’d you get that idea?

No features in lizard form?

Plus the voice throws me off.

It isn’t an unfair assumption considering they come out of the Titan’s Easy-Bake genetic oven. Being literally manufactured, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume they are effectively genderless.

We haven’t seen any signs of them being able to reproduce or even have a non-adult part of their life cycle. Which may be an issue considering they are doing a fine job murdering each other.

Dracthyr are reptiles and don’t really share a lot of recognizable sexually demographic traits with mammals like ourselves. That doesn’t mean they don’t have genders.

Its maybe the only thing I enjoy about the dracthyr design.

So they need name tags?

Yuh cause they’re not Mammals and if they do have features they’re likely hidden under their scales where its protected like basically every reptile in existence :dracthyr_shrug:

Like you think male reptiles just walk around dragging their thing along the ground or somethin completely unprotected by their biological Armour?

I’m sure a boy snake knows a girl snake when he sees one. Or perhapse smells one.

But the dracthyr aren’t natural creatures, who knows if they even have the impulse to reproduce. It’s never been brought up.

No but it makes things justifiably confusing when npcs are using a male voice that identifies as female.

There seems far more evidence to the contrary. The Dracthyr habitations have no nurseries or other such areas for their young. We have seen such areas for the dragons themselves but this is not shared anywhere in the Dracthyr locations. The Dracthyr themselves never make reference to children of their race (which you think they would if they actually had any all considering) nor do we ever see a Dracthyr who is not an adult.

Adding to the fact that the Dracthyr are literally bio-engineered soldiers, it is highly likely at least in the currently lore, the Dracthyr cannot reproduce or even have a “young” form. They are created as fully formed adults and considering their purpose, are likely unable to reproduce otherwise by design.

Emberthal doesn’t have a male voice?

She’s voiced by Laila Berzins

I’m impressed! As I write this, this thread has twelve, pretty decent replies!

And although it was posted on a Sunday, those good replies I’m going to regard as “Saturday night.”

Now that it’s FULLY Sunday … I have my bets as to where this thread will go for the rest of the day …

Genderfluid / non gender folks can still think “eh that sounds neat” regarding pronouns. They ain’t all they / thems

You can see the faction Dracthyr leaders hanging out in valdrakken and Cindrethresh may identify as a woman but her visage form is a male one just because basically she went “Ooo that looks hot. Gimme.” Which hey. Fair.

Also yeah Emberthal is voiced by a woman. But characters also don’t always need a matching gender voice actor. Heck women have been voicing male kids for ages now.

Oh wait until you hear about a character named Bart Simpson. You’re in for a shock.

Should be safe that the voice determines the gender. Might get tricky when we encounter Dracthyr with smoking problems.

Well it isn’t as if Neltharion will be making more of them and eventually they’d all die off so they have to be able to reproduce. I assume they’ll lay eggs like other reptiles and dragons. They’ll need male/female for that.

I just headcanon that dracthyr can maybe create eggs. Its just Neltharion didn’t wanna give them all the birds and the bees talk
