This should be a top priority for the next big patch after Dragonflight is released. It makes me feel embarassed that new players have to go from this small and beautiful island to Durotar, and then they see how outdated the world looks.
Elwynn Forest and Durotar should teach you more about the lore of your chosen race and your class, but also be a zone to level from 15 to 60.
Major characters shouldn’t be present in these zones, so when they die the zone won’t feel outdated. Every race should be part of this zone.
It’s been more than 10 years since Cataclysm, but both of these zones look more similar to the 2004 version.

I would love for some sort of world revamp, but I feel like it’d have to be done right. A lot of the quests/stories Cata replaced Vanilla zones with feel so aged nowadays since they made direct references to Deathwing and the Cataclysm. This isn’t to say that Vanilla WoW’s world didn’t make references to contemporary plots as well, but it felt a lot less overt–you could do some of those quests in TBC and Wotlk and not feel like they were too out of place. If they redid zones, I’d very much like them to make them in the image of Exile’s Reach in that they should tell rather vague and localized plots.

its great to know that you’re wrong on this
new players, upon leaving Exiles Reach, go straight to BfA, they don’t even have to worry about durotar or/elywnn forest

This is true. However, I feel as though a war expansion between two long-standing rivals probably isn’t the best time period to drop them in. Dropping them into Shadowlands would be even worse. I’d certainly like to see some sort of “new” place for newbies to start that isn’t placing them mid-way through a multi-expansion plotline but, for all we know, the devs might be developing DF to be just that (at least after it’s over and is no longer the current xpac).
False, they arrive in Stormwind’s gate and Orgrimmar’s gate. Play the game before talking.
Saving Azoroth from the Jailor was a misteak

Nah, I got 77 gold for it.
How I chose to interpret their comment is that you don’t really leave Org or Stormwind’s gates and just go to Sylvanaus/Anduin to get a mount to Zandalar/Kul’tiras for BfA.
I think Exodar and Silvermoon should be updated first !
Thank you !

Agreed. While maybe the Exodar can stay off in its own game cell (since it is on an island), it’s really absurd that Silvermoon and the Ghostlands are still considered to be in the Outlands cell. But both feel like they’re completely trapped in time and I really don’t understand why they didn’t just fix things when Cata came along.

The new starting zone removes all of that. It was already watered down. In classic you really got the feeling of what it means to be your race.
I think they removed that from the starting experience intentionally. The people who currently design wow place no value in being a race or class, and they’d just as soon we didn’t either. When people become attached to their characters, it is harder to convince them to reroll FOTM when the nerf hammer hits, like every patch. And not caring about your character except as a vessel for esports achievement is what the game is now all about.
In general I think tying the two core continents to a particular expansion and point in time was a massive misstep. So I definitely agree with making the starter zones at the very minimum properly timeless (as ironically, the vanilla versions were closer to being).
The old world could use a coat of paint for sure.
They could just start by replacing the graphics itself, which they have done for regular animals and NPCs. No need for a complete quest revamp yet!
Elwynn Forest looks more lively and better looking than Durotar. You see people hanging out in front of Stormwind & Goldshire….Meanwhile in Durotar there’s nothing. It’s so ugly.
Agree completely. I was just there today finally getting the heritage armor for my blood elf and thought how absolutely amazing Silvermoon could be if updated properly. At this point aren’t they the least updated zones in the game, since they weren’t touched during Cataclysm?
