Guess what whether they or them introduced it it would have came to the game knowing the gaming environment will constantly change and would need to adapt constantly.
Good, that means they are standing their ground on their design philosophy and being principled this time.
Which is why I’ve cancelled my pre-order. ![]()
And that is what they are currently doing policing on what can be on there and not on there.
That’s your choice and I don’t have any care about it.
so you dont care about playerbase numbers and the health of the game
Be a blizzard shill and keep defending a AAA mega corporation , They had many years to implement that before an addon creator did and they did not so no i will stick with my original statement. seeing as an addon creator seen a need filled it than a multi billion dollar company decided to finally fix that.
My only care is that they don’t bend the knee to those who want to undo all the changes and return to current status like the live servers.
You realize that almost all the top games that last more than a few years are filled with mods, addons, ‘trainers’, etc… From Skyrim to Minecraft, and everything in between. If MS wants to ‘adapt’ they would do so by looking at what the popular games are doing and move in that direction.
They aren’t ‘adapting’. This is an exec having a temper tantrum that will ruin the game.
So you dont care about the game increasing the playerbase.
I appreciate your candidness.
With or without the help from addons this game was bound to move to a single player mmo. Whether you would believe it or not.
By removing addons and making the game more approachable is already doing that job.
alrighty. time to just ignore anything you say going forward
Of course I read it. They also stated they don’t wanna partake in dealing with any of it, nor working with Blizzard.
We’re going through a transitionary period and it’s going to break stuff. There will be tuning, changes, and trade offs. None of this is new or unexpected. It’ll take time but new addons will come, just as they always have. This time we’ll move on without ElvUI, and that’s okay.
If you played up to Endwalker and haven’t touched dawntrail then I really think you won’t enjoy the return.
Correct. They are recasting their APIs and what they can do because they’ve determined that they will never win the addon arms race, and that attempting to do so has made the game less accessible to a new or even returning player.
We’ll have to see how that plays out, as I’m not confident in an impending uptick in the MMO genre, so I don’t know if Blizzard alone can move that needle.
The odds of you quitting the game over this is incredibly unlikely. It’s unlikely for most complaining.
This is every single expansion. Changes are made to the game, ppl complain and say they’re going to quit, and then here they are playing again.
Every single expansion something is going to ruin the game and guess what, it doesn’t.
This is the latest.
Eh, it still does have some (which are technically against the game’s ToU), but FFXIV has thrived for a while without allowing the use of addons. It largely appeals to a different audience than WoW, with the differing philosophy surrounding modding being an aspect of that, but even MMOs can succeed without them.
Nah gen-z doesnt use this stuff they play dumbed down games.
Nah, we don’t need these addons. Let’s get rid of even more of them imo
And guess what they are combatting both computational and combat addons and making classes more approachable and making fights less confusing and complex and by doing this it would draw in new players. Returning players that is completely up to them if they want to return anyways.
