Losing Elvui is terrible. It’s a non-combat add on, do better Blizzard.
I think the whole addon issue is ridiculous on their end of things.
They’ve had plenty of time over the years to come up with ones that are as good or better than the ones we download from Curse.
I still really feel if they really wanted to they could have done this years ago instead of trying to lock it in with a new xpack.
It’s frustrating i get it for those who got hooked on addons all their lives, but, get over it, and move on, learn to ADJUST to CHANGES. Just like real life. Whether you adjust to them or not is totally on you. It’s not the end of the world. It was bound to happen sooner or later. You all are making it like it’s life or death ordeal. If you’re not happy with things, just unsub or delete account. Hate me for stating the obvious, Idc.
Combat Add-ons do not equal “everything”
I deleted the comment, but you snagged a quote anyway.
Oh well.
Addons fiasco has been badly managed dude.
It’s not just combat addons either.
I embrace the new changes.
You mean act like a mature, rational adult? Its clear we dont have many people around here that can comprehend that.
I feel like the change is going to sting for a while. Just like every other change they’ve made in the past. It’s simply going to take time to adjust to. Eventually people will forget all about it and the change will become the new norm and everything will still be just fine. I remember being extremely aggravated when they split druid into four specs. I was angry beyond belief for about a year. Now I simply login and play.
Yes, because another thread on this same thing was sorely needed. Especially when there wasn’t any new information or thoughts brought to the discussion.
it’s odd. They have just as much right to complain about it as you have to complain about their complaining. At the end of the day people didn’t think ELVUI would get absolutely scrapped because of the API. Everybody was so focused on WA and DBM this one took them by surprise. So if you don’t really have anything constructive or empathetic to add why bother coming into the thread just simply to be mean? I don’t use any of these add-ons, but I’m not gonna fault someone else for being affected by it.
Come on you should know by now that everyone needs to be their very own special Forum Karen and make their very own thread on a topic that is so over played .
I wish these people would finally realize what their moms meant when they called them special .
I did. And until that sub expires I’m going to make sure I spend every possible opportunity I can ridiculing those higher-ups at Blizzard for this horribly misguided attempt to kill off all addons in some flawed attempt to attract new players to a game that is completely incapable of attracting new players.
I’m not doing that.
They made a new thread without providing any new information or thoughts on the subject. There’s at least 2 other active threads that are near the top of the page OP could have posted in.
Instead, they chose to add spam to the list. If there was anything of value in the OP maybe my opinion would be different, but there isn’t. It’s just another generic “feels bad man” post.
If they stopped using AI and hired more devs, this wouldn’t happen
while it is suggested that people combine their efforts into the same thread and share their thoughts and opinions there it’s not a requirement. The moderators have the option of combining the threads or closing them entirely if it becomes a spam concern. But let’s face it for the last eight months there have been at least 12 to 15 threads per day yelling about mage tower appearances that were neither combined into a singular thread nor locked up by the moderators. You and I are not moderators here and we don’t decide where people should get to post and how they get to do it.
If you think it’s spam and it’s a violation, then report it and move on. But exactly what you did was what I claimed which was come in here to be mean and act like a moderator telling them they shouldn’t be doing this. So I stand by what I said and perhaps you need to take a little break and get some fresh air because when something is simple as a thread on a fan site causes you to act this way towards others there’s a bigger issue at hand. Nothing should be this aggravating.
Oh good lord, you’re one of those.
Not everything is AI like your tin foil hat wants you to think.
I’m not aggravated. It takes less than 30 seconds to type a message in a thread.
Take your own advice. If you don’t like my post, don’t reply to it.
Cult of Change input duly noted.
It’s not Blizzard’s fault that ElvUI’s team is chucking a wobbly and refusing to continue development on their addon. That’s entirely their doing.
They could have simply altered their UI to remove the parts that relied on combat data and kept everything else, even working with Blizzard to make the process as seamless as possible, and instead they slapped Blizzard’s hand away and pissed on their community.
Blizzard can’t force them to be better people.
Blizzard stated that they rolled out the most restrictive version of what they want to do first, with the intent of potentially dialing some of it back based on feedback (partially from addon devs).
Right now, ElvUI, oUF, and I assume pretty much any major UI Compilation Addon is on hold due to the issues with Cast Bars, Nameplates, Unit Frames (huge one), and Auras under the current API.
Feedback, from both players and addon devs, is important right now, because Blizzard isn’t going to dial things back if everyone just packs it up and says “ok”.
I REALLY hope things get to a state where addons like ElvUI can continue to exist. I don’t care about WA, DBM, and similar things that help mid-combat. But I care a lot about the visual presentation of my UI. Blizzard’s default UI is stylized in a way I just don’t like and I don’t want to go back to looking at it.
Anyway, I don’t know a single soul in my circles who has spoken up about quitting over Weakauras. But I know multiple already who would potentially quit over ElvUI.
