Elves and Blue

I know, I’m slow. But i just made the connection and felt the need to share this Apiffany.
You know how in the BFA: Azshara Cinematic that showcased the Old Kal’dorei Empire before it’s fall? Everything was blue and white. all the architecture. lots of towers. etc.

Well I just remembered how in the lore, the ancestors of thalassian elves, - those Highborne that were exiled from Night Elven society for being overly-presumptuous magical dillweeds, sought to rebuild a piece of what they lost before the collapse of the old empire. And that’s prob why everything was blue and white in Silvermoon when everyone was still politically High Elves; They wanted to sport the same national colors as the “old country”

Your right. I never noticed it was blue.

It’s simple - this is a hint from Blizzard that the High Elves will soon arrive and Silvermoon will be the new capital of the Alliance! :blue_heart::white_heart::blue_heart:

Already have them, and have had them since 2007!

Ahahaha, no.

Or, bare with me here, blue happened to be in fashion.

Where is your husband Erevien? Is he asleep? Do you take turns with him on the forum? He during the day, you at night?

WoW factions and their respective color association aside, I do quite like the Thalassian assets in blue like they are in Allerian Stronghold moreso than the red.

Did you delete your game yet?

Same. I love all thalassian offshoots. but I hate red. always have. it’s the one thing that irks me about them. Like why not purple or green or something? red is so… intrusive.

Or my dear moocow, Elves are nothing if not deliberate creatures.

I think it would be interesting if Blizzard made all the High Elves Wretched.

When the Sunwell went up in smoke, these elves who aren’t aligned with Silvermoon went about their own ways to get magic - instead of waiting for Kael’thas to deliver a solution from Outland - and all ended up addicted and turning Wretched.

Blizzard will finally get to use the Forsaken animation rig to create an Allied race.

 :heart_decoration:

You know they won’t do that. They are trolling, that is why they have resorted to this sort of trolling when someone provides them with facts.

Without having me go explain it, what do you know about the reason being blood elf’s gold and red decision?

I know, I know. A bunch of elves died. The High Elves got traumatized, painted themselves red in honor of the fallen, and as a part of the oath to avenge them. then they called themselves blood elves.

but still… red is so… ew

Unfortunately I think there’s old stigma with colors like green, yellow and purple in entertainment. At least in Western media. Almost all old school comic book villians are these colors. While the good guys are red white and blue. I imagine some of that might still be taught or influencing some artistic choices.

I am in no way an expert, but I took a few college classes in art and comics, and that’s my guess.

No other color would make sense if it meant honoring those who perished. The blood elves are a powerful and rather prideful people who were severely humbled after those events. Even so, the pride remained. Proud of their fallen became more vengeful than anything and a want to spill blood against those who caused their homeland’s downfall.

Blood is blood. No amount of green or purple would fit their traitor King’s proclamation.

Red is a strong, passionate and beautful color.

No that’s pretty believable. But personally purple has always been associated with, like, royalty for me (lighter shades). or of course, it could represent an Arcane influence. And green yells nature, so it automatically feels “good”.
and yellow is… annoying. so yeah, i guess that one fits the bad guy trope.

I get it though. The red just always makes me feel like my belf toons should all be snobby and angry lol (which in hindsight probably isn’t just bc of the cultural color choices lol)

Okay, Hear me out… Violet. It’s so much more visually appealing. I mean yes it’s still a little aggressive, but it’s far less stabby

Purple on its own is lovely. But I guess the Kirin Tor got in line for the paint first. Lol

Kirin Tor already has that color and they’re not out to make themselves visually appealing. When your home is ransacked and 90% of the population is wiped out, all you care about is blood and vengeance.

Dangit. yeah, they did.

So what I’m hearing from you, is Magenta is the superior hue?..

But honestly… maybe that’s why the High Elves chose to move to Dalaran. Better color schemes.
