Elven Rangers: Blood Elves Vs Night Elves

for as long as elves have been seen in fantasy literature and films, the elven ranger has always been an admired classic choice of role for these eloquent sylvan warriors. but, in a world like azeroth, where we have elves-a-plenty… this raises the question of “which elven race has rangers superior to the others?”. excluding nightborne and void elves (since they tend to mostly focus on the magical classes (void, and arcane) and dont have many notable rangers in their ranks).

Alleria? Hello?

There are quite a few Void Rangers in Telogrus too.

ehhh her skill is really more from the belf/helf background. in fact, void elves dont really have their own culture yet. their too young

Prob night elves. It seems more prevalent with them.

I say Night Elves. I’m not biased at all.

Blood/High Elves have more major Ranger characters I think, like Sylvanas, Alleria, and Lor’themar.

I feel like shot for shot, they’re probably equal, generally speaking. Of course individual skill comes into play a lot.

Blizzard story-writing focuses more on the blood elves’ magisters and blood knights over their farstriders.

However, the Farstriders canonically make up the bulk of the blood elves’ military, and many of the most notable blood/high elven NPCs are also rangers including Alleria, Veresa, Lor’themar, Halduron, and Sylvanas (+ her named dark rangers that have been consistantly reappearing in several expansions, like Velonara).

Ironcially the Night Elves don’t have many sentinels of note that are recurring characters other than Shandris and technically Tyrande.

I feel like, given the lifespan of the two Nelves would be expected to be far more superior based on how long they’ve been Rangers… But, Blizz seems to like to really point out the Windrunner’s capability, and the Farstriders in general. Whereas, the notability doesn’t get as pointed out by Nelves.

I’d say Night Elves. All the Sylvanas sisters fled or died when Arthas came knocking. The Night Elves took down the Legion’s first invasion attempt

The problem is Blizzard never shows it that way. You’d think Night Elves and Draenei would have the most skilled people, but there are always other characters from races with smaller lifespans that are better or equal in skill.

Yeaah, I know which is kinda sucky. Especially given that a majority of Alliance leaders are super OPOP in regards to their skillset that this war really shouldn’t even be a thing. But, for the sake of equality in everything they seem to write the Alli weirdly. You’d also think that since the Nelves are about equal in regards to rangers as Blood elves there’d be more notable characters but there’s really not that many… At least in storylines.

Edit : I’m waiting for cool opop characters on horde that don’t get killed off by random mob #12 or someone else in the horde.

I mean, y’all didnt really do it alone. There were dragons, and tauren, and earthen, and furbolgs, and all of the demigods, and one single human and orc.

And the world kind of blew up anyway.

Yeaaah, and they were sort of the cause of said first attempt in the first place, so… There is that.

All the High Elf/ Blood Elf rangers alive today are the descendants of the Highborne who rebelled against Azshara. They aren’t at fault at all.

Technically yes , I understand this. However, I’m stating that night elves were still the cause of the first legion attempt that they also had defeat like the person had claimed.

When regarding the rangers my opinion is a bit differed..

Alleria was offworld in outland.
Sylvanas died.
Vareesa fled lordaeron when it was overwhelmed since her and rhonin could not hold it

They had different approaches to the concept of Rangers.

The Night elves would hunt and frolic and live among the trees and animals. A very harmonious type of Ranger. More passive. It was more of a lifestyle choice and a way to bring dinner to the table.

Blood Elf Rangers are a military order. A standing force used for war both on the battlefield and in scouting/guerrilla warfare. Their style is meant for direct use against other intelligent creatures rather than securing food sources.

Of course it’s night elves. The high elves were so desperate for worthy applicants they accepted a human! Gross!

Sylvanas just wanted to jump his bones, that’s all.
