Legion did a fantastic job on fleshing out Suramar and making it feel like a grand and magnificent place. I think what people may be looking for is already in Legion.

I’d like a sort of time-walking xpac that explores 10,000 years ago during Azshara’s reign. Would be dope.

They gotta save the reset for when they finally cave and make a new game engine, resetting the game to opening of the dark portal

Do you mean like, in the current era? Or in old timey Azeroth around the time of the troll wars?
Seeing Blizz do something with the troll wars would be interesintg. We’ve already gotten the multiversal version of time travel via Warlords of Draenor, so they could easily apply that to any concept they want, really.
Though I still really want them to revamp the vanilla continents for a Fifth War focused xpac. They can make the original experience a Chromie thing for those who will sob and defecate when anything good happens.
Time travelling to ancient Kalimdor and the NElf empire at the time could be fun, but a lot of that isn’t just the Kaldorei empire but the other goings on at the time
I played Cataclysm. Not again. I also question this being ‘good’ given how notorious Cata’s world revamp went. Its just going to lead to 90% of the world being ignored except the few parts relevant to max level. Making all that world revamp wasted content. Again.

Huge ask, but the key is Blizzard not messing it up.
Why are so many stories of ruins, lost places, broken flooded shores?
Where is the construction? Imagine each expansion we see some small settlement grow until it becomes a new capital of a new empire.?
And we help shape it over time

blood elves, night elves and the new high elves as a third faction and put the war back in warcraft.
That was only about 40 years ago in game time.

As a night elf, I am glad we are out of the empire business. It did not lead to anything good.
Why are your people planting another tree then?
That sounds like an expansion where Night Elves and Blood Elves would be attempting to expand their territories on Azeroth. In the end they would be fighting with each other, and everybody else would be eating popcorn and watching them make fools of themselves.

what empire? elves are a declining people clinging on to the last embers of the past, meanwhile the young races inherit the world.
