Elune's relation to the Light conflicting with An'she's

With a Night Elf priestess of Elune (Mu’sha) having the ability to turn into a paladin in the Order Hall quests of Legion, it’s speculated that the power of Elune is or related to the same Light as any Paladin or Priest.

However, the Tauren who worship Elune’s opposite (Or I could say, compatriot), An’she, have paladins as well. This means that both the sun and moon of azeroth are Light-related, or that Blizzard made a mistake.

To fix this, Elune cannot be the main goddess on Azeroth any longer. An’she as a seperate entity must be proven that it actually exists and make itself known just as thoroughly.

This also creates a problem where there is no single Light-entity. An additional character/god has to be created now, one that overarchs both An’she and Mu’sha (Elune). The reasoning for this is that the Light’s deities’ opposite, the Void Lords, is unified philisophically. There is no two sides to the void coin as we know of, however on Azeroth, both worshippers of the sun and moon can access the Light.

Either An’she has to be grown as a character along with a new deity added and the Void Lords having another side to their coin created, similar to the two deities above, or new information has to come out that Elune and the An’she are the same entity.

The Light is more powered by faith and belief than any actual entity. If you believe in something strong enough and view it as a “source of Light” then you can draw power in that way. Everyone has their own views, but the Light is an outer cosmic force and that’s where it all comes from.

Different paths that lead to the same destination, it’s all the same well of power. An’she doesn’t actually need to exist. If the tauren believe it does then they’ll still draw from the Light.

As for Elune, she has connections to almost everything. Her exact nature is still completely up in the air, we just don’t know enough yet.

The thing is, if Elune is related to the moon and does exist without a reference to her relating to the sun other than them both being eyes of the Earth-mother (who is probably going to be revealed as the Titan Azeroth this expansion), then the sun has to have some deity significance

Agreed, I hope when they explain the Earth-Mother this expansion that they touch upon this, because the Tauren believe that they’re related

Tauren need more lore development as a whole. Giving more lore for An’she would be amazing. Though I enjoy deities a lot more when they are mysterious. I liked the interaction Elune had with the death of Ysera, but at the same time, it made her less mysterious. Then again, it could be argued as a pure wtf moment for anyone none Night Elf/Tauren looking up at the sky during that time.

It’s strange that no one is talkin’ about how Ysera was made into a constellation…

Then what would compel the Night Elves to view a moon goddess before a sun one?

Maybe a favored child scenario? Could also be a case of who reached out to who first.

To be frank. We don’t even know who the first Night Elf was. It could be argued it was Azshara because of her Warbringer she says the line, “This is the empire I built.”

We really just don’t know a lot about An’she in general. If An’she is just Elune under a guise, then how does she have the power to infuse so many humanoids with her gifts? Is she just the straight up goddess of the WoW Universe? If so, why in the world are the Night Elves so damn special?

I think they’re just predisposed to it. Before they were night elves they were dark trolls. They lived underground, were completely nocturnal and really disliked daylight. And they generally retained those traits even after evolving from the Well.

So from the beginning they’ve always been more drawn to the moon and night than the sun.

Elune the void loa gives prettier eyes

Ignorance. Obviously.

The Light isn’t related to a deity. This is very explicitly outlined by Blizzard. The prime prerequisite for channeling the Light is one’s faith in being able to do so. Yes this means the Light cast by human priests is the same as the Light from Elune, is the same as the Light from the Sunwalkers. It does NOT however mean An’she is a valid proven deity.

Humans have no deity. Their ability to wield the light is not gifted to them by anyone or anything. In a sense you could say their use of the Light is most pure.

The Naaru wield the Light, but do not GIVE power of the Light to the Draenei. Draenei follow them more like sages and prophets, angels even.

Elune is presumably a deity that wields Light. We know she is real because Blizzard says so. Nightelves worship here as if she gives them power over the Light, but that is only their belief. In reality only their faith gives them that power.

Sunwalkers worship An’she and believe An’she gives them power over the Light. Like Nightelves with Elune this is not true and it is simply their faith that does so. That leaves us with no evidence of An’she being real.

Tl;Dr The light is not gifted by dieties, it is granted by one’s own faith in something. So being able to wield light is not evidence that An’she is real. Elune on the other hand, Blizzard has said is real.
