Elune expansion possibility and speculation

for me personally.

They could’ve done anything with Elune, and they chose the worst possible outcome.

I think it’s that they don’t like Elune having helped facilitate Night Elf deaths on a whim.

It’s mind boggling because how could Elune Not know that the death realms were broken and all souls were flowing to the Maw instead. :wolf:

What makes you think the Eternal Ones besides Denathrius and Zovaal (thanks to the dreadlords’ infiltrations) knows what’s going on in the other cosmic planes? These realms aren’t really meant to be interacting with one another directly. When they do, it’s indicative of things happening that aren’t supposed to happen.

They interact with each other quite frequently. Judging by the Light and Void invasions of the shadowlands. These cosmic forces aren’t living their own bubbles.

Not to mention Elune attempting to send the kaldorei souls to Ardenweald

Except beyond repelling the invaders, the Shadowlands’ denizens don’t seem particularly invested in following them home to find out how things are going in the realms of Light and Void.

Elune sending those souls wasn’t her directly interacting with the realm of Death. It was her intervening in our plane of reality when they died to influence how those souls would then be sorted once they crossed over.

They largely are in their own bubbles; these places aren’t meant to be readily accessible unless by certain means that cross through our plane of existence. The cosmic realms themselves aren’t intended to be directly up in each others business all the time; that’s why it’s noteworthy when it actually happens, and why Denathrius was probably breaking a bunch of rules when he had the nathrezim infiltrating the other cosmic domains.

That’s true. Honestly hadn’t thought it all the way through

At the very least, we know Elune did know about the anima drought. It’s why she was funnelling nelf souls to her sister in the WoT. So they must have some degree of knowledge about other realms, even if that knowledge seemingly stops at understanding the full scene they’re seeing.

And in fairness she could have learned that much from some of the last returning Wild Gods, or perhaps even independently recognized a dearth of Wild Gods reviving in the physical universe as a sign of Ardenweald lacking anima.

When it comes to the part where all souls were going to the Maw, not even the Winter Queen knew about that at the time of the Burning of Teldrassil, so it’s not particularly surprising that a being of Life who’s completely removed from the Shadowlands wouldn’t have known about it either. Who would have told Elune? Until the player arrived the only ones who knew it was happening were those responsible for causing it, the Primus (who got captured) and the Attendants in Oribos, and they weren’t even telling the other Eternal Ones.

I dunno. Unless there is some kind of weird, regular, constant death cycle of wild gods that we don’t know about and has never been mentioned (which I’m certainly not discounting), a very short, a year at most period (Argus’s death breaking things to Teldrassil burning) without a wild god returning doesn’t sound that unusual.

It couldn’t be returning wild gods; again, the time period is very short, and that would just be a big stretch for everything to have just shut down in that short a period.

I’d guess the most likely possibility here is that the “Titan-like” beings have a basic sense of the rough state of other cosmic realms, like “something’s punching the Light-realm a lot” or “the Shadowlands are starving”, but no real ability to see them in their entirety, or even see specific realms.

Elune did plant Ysera in Ardenweald though. What the gods of the other realms or even the Eternal Ones are capable of doing outside of their own realms really isn’t that defined.

Unless I missed something

Personally I’m just waiting for them to reveal that the First Ones were also 3D printed robots by the super first ones. Then rinse and repeat forever. To the point that the Titans are on the same level as a gnoll respectively.

The Latin American Spanish localization calls the First Ones a name that translates to the " First Born." If that is accurate, they could have creators.

You are talking about the Original Ones, creations of the Ones Before, who are creations of the Alphas, created by Bob the Negative First.

Who himself came into existence miraculously at a concerto of Manualism (armpit farting) of the Ominously Plaid and Inconsistent Ones.

You didn’t miss anything here, what we’re seeing is fallout from the current “quality” of in-game lore.

What would you rather they had done with Elune?

Well, instead of denying Tyrande her justice and sending the night elf souls to the maw how about…

  • Making Elune not complicit in sending the Night Elf souls to the maw
  • Making Elune NOT abandon Tyrande in the most crucial moment
  • Have Elune tell us that the souls of the Night Elves are now saved and there is a future for us to come
  • Have Elune and the Night Warrior actually play a role in defeating the Jailer

… and similar things

Basically make the Elune appearance something positive for Night Elves instead of yet another negative, but it’s Blizzard that we’re talking about here so…

What about her position in the cosmos then? She’s a part of the Pantheon of Life, it seems. Is that bad?

Absolutely bad.

She has, since her inception, always been depicted as the true deity of the cosmos.
She had been consistently linked to Life, Arcane, and Light.
Demoting her down to a simple Life Pantheon member was horrible.

One of the most simple fixes would to just have it be revealed that Tyrande had been empowered by Eonar this entire time instead and Eonar was the one speaking through her rather than Elune.
