Elune as the embodiment of Life in Nature

Honestly, how does making Elune a god amongst many such gods, ruin the experience of night elf players?

I swear, it’s like the NE community is the most selfish community there is. Always making demands of More, we need more but never want to comprise

More? We don´t demand “more”, we demand what we currently have or had…the horde is allways the one who is demanding more here.

What we’re asking for is to be EQUAL with the alliance and their god like leaders and their literal goddess.

It’s alliance fans getting angry that people suggest their power fantasy dared be knocked down a peg

I didn’t play Shadowlands when it was current, so most of my knowledge is from piecing together stuff mentioned on the forums - but isn’t this what exists now? Elune got upgraded to be not limited to Azeroth, hinted to be the Winter Queen’s sister and possibly one of the Life Pantheon, but doesn’t that make her one god among many?

(My own preference would be that Elune stayed as an Azeroth-only deity, maybe able to reach out further only when her followers/priestesses travelled to called on her from other worlds like WoD/etc so that priests don’t get depowered.)

I find it kind of funny because one of the big NE complaints I’ve seen is that they want a depiction of the Wild Gods more like Zandalar gets with the loa - having them show up in the story and care about the people the game associates them with.

Elune has always been a hands-off goddess (so the “night elves blame Elune for the Burning” plot by Blizzard landed with as much confusion as their “the Horde betrayed you at the Broken shore” announcement), so her power never really appeared in-game - gameplay-wise, she was no more powerful than, say, the shaman communing with the elements. In fact, elementals act by themselves a whole lot more than Elune acts. If the Horde wants a similar higher-tier but mostly inactive deity, I’m happy with that - there were some neat ideas about An’she that hold promise, for example - but trying to pull Elune down to the level of a Zandalari loa wouldn’t end well for anyone.

I do like the idea of having Elune and An’she as either siblings or otherwise linked deities, though, because that makes it easier for the narrative (aka the writers) to have both appear at once in a story/patch/etc (so one doesn’t et left out), even while each faction’s writing can focus more on one rather than the other so that the player isn’t forced into following the other faction’s deity.

i don´t argue that an’she can have an important role aswell, my point is that the horde allways demand to “Nerf” things otherwise it is “unfair”…

Oh no.
One fanbase of twenty six fanbases will be upset, while the other 25 will be emboldened.
How dare.

Bwonsamdi was older than the Troll race.
A higher deity that took on the shape of a troll because he liked them.
He was the only deity with a regularly regarded death realm in the game.
Bwonsamdi was nerfed so that Elune’s sister could dab on him for nelves in the night elven afterlife of Ardenweald, which Bwonsamdi’s multiple-expansion-mentioned realm ended up being a small tiny pocket of.

  1. Bwonsamdi owes his fealty to the night elven winter queen goddess.
  2. Bwonsamdi’s realm is a hole in one of her night elven world tree tyrna trees.
  3. Bwonsamdi is no longer a god older than all races on the planet, but instead is an ancient troll that got upgraded to tiny lesser-than-elune-and-her-sister deity status.
  4. Bwonsamdi’s realm was relegated to a tiny dungeon while the night elven afterlife of Ardenweald ended up being the most important afterlife in the seting.

So, yeah.

Nerf Elune to Bwonsamdi’s level.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Ardenweald screwed many other characters inlcuding Elune.
I agree with your statement because Bwonsamdi deserved better but at least he got to be the God we always knew and love. On the other hand we now have Elune with no afterlife of her own (priestesses of the moon teach how once you die and leave Azeroth you get to be with Elune). She has no power over her so called favored children and to add salt to the wound she’s basically comfirmed to be a robot.
Remeber that it’s not true that “most night elves fans” want Elune to be the supreme of the supremes. She was fine the way she was but if others want the same treatment go for it. I would gladly trade what we got (and we didnt ask for) for the sake to go back to an unknown mystirious status.

Citation?
As far as I knew, night elves remained on Azeroth (as wisps) unless Elune loved a specific nelf above all others, then she turned them into stars.

I have to admit, I started to discuss some of my thoughts about: Elune as a mystic’s deity to grant the player-self freedom as Night Elves, Malfurion Stormrage having experience the Emerald Dream no other place than trapped in bramble (Razorfen?) locally as their mind, that an Azure-aligned Dragonkin is consulting Merithra, a Daughter of Ysera in Ohn’ahran plaines while the Red and Black Dragonflight alignment is potentially evaltuated as strengthening across realms and the Dragon Isles (though the Black Empire is in failure in frakture for ever), and that the Azure Dragonflight is investigating Simulation as Simulacrum such as Sindragosa and Kalecgos as Mirrors while their Blue magic mixes with Purple (Shadow Priest meets Death Knight) –
but, after all this long-winded cumulative ponderance…
I went on wow-wiki and started reading about trees other than Teldrassil and Nordrassil, saw nothing about the Loch Modan as a potential World Tree site and admit I must research the existing kanon whole before jumping into some rp think tanking.
there is so much lore! I feel like I haven’t even started. lost
