I’m not sure how Blizzard thought adding this item and not disabling it in War Mode was a good thing. People are mostly using it to scream expletives and harass players of the opposite faction in PvP.
Eh? Doesn’t it just make you understand the other faction?
so… you can opt out by not drinking it…?
Ummm, don’t use it when you’re engaging in WPvP then?
Like, it only allows you to understand the other faction, it doesn’t allow them to speak to you
No it works the opposite of how you guys are saying. It allows that player to speak to YOU, and YOU understand them. They won’t understand YOU (if you dont use it).
Creating problems where there are none…
This is easily solvable. If you don’t want to hear the opposite faction, don’t drink the potion.
are you sure?
It doesn’t work like that. Please read up on the potion before you guys post. COME ON. That’s 3 people now that don’t know how it works.
That’s not how it’s supposed to work. It allows you to understand others.
Elixir of Tongues
Item Level 15
Use: Allows you to comprehend the common language of the opposite faction for 1 hour.
Except it doesn’t?
Please stop trying to ruin a fix that helps out the RP community, breaking other people’s toys isn’t cool
Ok so how am are hordies speaking Common to me, when I don’t have the potion active? They can’t understand me because I don’t have the potion active, but I can understand them.
You’ve just described exactly how it works, and what everyone is telling you.
Or just keep on trolling I guess.
/shrug
If you drink the potion - yes, you temporarily learn the language. However, you can also select the language on your chat box and speak it.
So, yeah - it’s not an opt-in situation. It’s a “Here’s a learned language for some gold pieces, enjoy”.
(Also, for some reason my Orc knows Draconic now and it won’t disappear with the potion buff.)
Well that sounds like they messed up again - people shouldn’t be able to communicate with others period if they aren’t using the elixir.
Then report it as a bug, it’s not supposed to work that way
Don’t try to tear the whole thing down
Yea I enjoy the fact that you can now make even more fun of Alliance you go around killing. Trash talk is integral to social interaction and tons of fun. That’s why I love Diablo II so much, epic trash talking! Don’t see why people are so upset.
I don’t even like trash talk from my own side in PvP - sure not going to enjoy the trash talk from the other side.
To each his own I guess.
Okay, but it isn’t an integral part of PvP on WoW (unless you count logging onto alts on the opposite faction and spamming chat there, which is really the only way this has been happening cross-faction). This is a new development, and it’s just going to make people more toxic.
That being said, people should be reporting the people abusing the potion for this purpose and ignoring them.
It’s completely toxic and needs to be reverted. There’s no point defending it. When a 120 hordie can fly into a questing hub, aoe all the lowbies and spam “/yell GIT GUD SCRUBS” Blizzard has made a terrible mistake.
