I went for a 10/10M “interview”. After reviewing my logs, GM asked to see my UI and key binds.
After that I was told off for using stand blizzard UI and too little key binds. They said something like “you are a clicker” and please download WA.
Also got told off that I didn’t bind a key for health stones and damage pots.
What’s wrong with these people? My parses are orange and pink without the need for all these things. So what if I’m a a clicker ? Sheesh!
I think this is the reason why players move on to other games

Lol yeah people make too much of a big deal about that. They don’t realize you can actually do a lot clicking once you are used to it.

Impressive if you can do mythic raiding as a clicker. I’m sure that’s not an easy thing to do, so I am impressed if you are good at it.

Yeah . It’s an ego thing.
“I bind all my keys and I do elvui”
If you don’t do it means you are bad.
Stupid logic that existed since …. Forever in WOW.

Did they ask you to sign an in Game contract if they would have taken you?
I think having to do an interview to get into a guild is hysterical. I remember having it happen way back in Wrath, or Cata, and when I found I had to basically sit an interview I went…naa, I put up with that crap looking for a job, I dont need to do it in a game I play for fun.

My UI is a colossal mess but it works for me.
Strange they outright said that about base UI. Base UI with some WA/timers isn’t actually bad at all. I’m pretty sure players from top guilds (not all but some) use a base UI with some additions.
Some people are picky, but just make a fake UI if you have to or lie about the key bind. I find it funny when people complain about UIs but at the same time are even more imperfect with their highly optimized UI.
Wouldn’t read too much into it.

It’s Mythic raiding. It’s not uncommon for a top tier progression guild to criticize and lay out specifics of what’s important to them. This isn’t a social guild we’re talking about.
If a Mythic guild wants specific add-ons and set ups to make sure their team runs the way they want it to get the content done successfully, then so be it.
They’re not toxic because they said the UI was bad. It’s called criticism and people need to learn to either learn from it if they want to be on that team or take it with a grain of salt and walk away.
Different teams do things differently and some are super serious about getting through the highest content. They’re not bad people for doing it.

All this post does is validate that they made the right decision

Some people think their way is the best for everything. It is a wonder they didn’t ask about your monitor refresh rate.

Well their team believes X is better and ask you to adapt to it. Not uncommon tbh. But i never understood why people believe restricting other people preferences in a UI for example will increase their performance in a videogame.

UI and Key binds … right. That shows how “good” that GM is … lol
Honestly, things like that are pretty rare to me. And I got with raiding guilds not only in NA servers, but in EU servers too.
Cant be “ruining” the game

The fact it’s 2021 and people still don’t realize clicking is not detrimental because the GCD exists is sad. As long as you can move your mouse faster than your GCD, you are literally not at a disadvantage.
Also, some people prefer the default UI. I’ve tried the custom ones and they don’t work for me. They throw me off.
Also, if I have to pop a defensive on anything but a tank, I do it manually. I don’t keybind that. Otherwise I WILL fat finger and hit it when I don’t need to. Same reason I don’t keybind things like Heroism.

GCD does not mean you can be faster or as fast clicking.
I do use the default UI and that is better than some half baked addon that if nothing else adds response time to your game, but clicking vs binding is not equalized by GCD.
You might bind “whatever way you choose”, but if you do only clicking, you will be slower than binding.
Actually, if you really want to have fast response, you cant compete with binding/macro with nothing else.

Right. Please, feel free to upload a video showing me how you manage to press your keybinds while the skill is still on the GCD. I’ll wait.

GCD is not delayed enough to equalize binding to click.
And this is the time to tell you “have a good life”

Sounds like a made up story to me, if your logs are so good get on your main and lets see them. I’ve done a few interviews for decent guilds and I’ve never had anyone ask me about my keybinds.

You can use the standard UI and 1 to = keys to raid mythic just fine. You don’t need Elvui or a fancy keybind setup. It does help immensely if you have a 12 button gaming mouse and/or a mechanical keyboard (I’d recommend both). It also helps to have the right addons, a good screen resolution, and an uncluttered view.
That would probably be my biggest suggestion right there? For me, health stones/damage pots are Shift-4 and Exhiliration is Shift-9. With Aspect of the Turtle being Shift-8 and disengage Shift-10. Having those defensives down to pure muscle memory can really save your @$$.
I’ve done mythic raiding myself. And people do very much pride themselves on doing those little things that either save themselves a fraction of a second or allow them to do a fraction of a percent more. But I would say do what works for you. At the end of the day performance is King.
By the way, I’m curious. I know the classical definition of “clicker” is using your cursor to click on icons in the UI. Did it at some point change to clicking your mouse or mechanical keyboard repeatedly waiting on something to come off CD? Because I can’t imagine anyone getting orange parses if we’re using the old definition.
Hang on, that doesn’t fit the agenda of the 0.001% driving away the 0.099% that even qualify to get into a CE guild.
