You’re not sounding elitist. You’re sounding like you want to pave a way that’s emotionally stable and safe for you and others like you when you start playing Classic.
Those aren’t rules. No one has to /roll for anything. No one has to buff random players. And you definitely do NOT need to give other players a “right of way” when they’re attacked when gathering nodes.
Is there something called etiquette? Yes. Are there such things as unspoken rules? Absolutely. But both are NOT obligatory, never were, and players should feel free to screw anyone over at any time in order to get a leg up in any sort of situation.
You want to be elitist? Then preach the idea of free will and let people play how they want to. This is how MANY people played, including myself;
By making personal calls to either be nice, or be realistic. Or in this case, your definition of realistic may be rude. It may be mean. Terrible. Callus, thoughtless, heartless. This list can go on and on.
And at the end of the day, I’m willing to say sure. I’m willing to agree with all of the above. It is what it is though.
Sometimes you get it.
And sometimes you get got.
There will be times where you yourselves will get it. There will be other times when you all will get got as well. Same for me. Same for everyone. Noobs included.
Play how you will. Let the chips fall where they may and have fun.
This is being elitist. Take what you can get. If you’re itching to be nice, then do it. Do what it takes to get the best stuff you can get. There’s greatness to be had in being a dirtbag scumlord lousy PoS elitist.
