"Elite markers not on floating names" intended?!

So the “known issues” thread says that the floating health bars for mobs not having gold dragons (i.e. a mark that identify them as ‘elite’) is intended, and my question is: who the heck thought that was a good idea?

The entire purpose of the gold dragon icon is to identify which mobs are elite.

So now I have to individually click on all the mobs in range and check each nameplate to find out which ones are elite instead of just giving a single glance at the floating health bars. Again: who thought this was a good change? What could possibly be the reason for that? Rare mobs still get a new icon, a four-point star on their nameplates, so, again: why couldn’t elite mobs get something similar?

We need the option to show the gold dragon mark again, or anything to distinguish them from non-elite mobs. Let those of us that want that icon still to still have it without resorting to downloading even MORE addons!

you think that’s bad? when your in combat, there’s barely a whisp of red around your playerframe. only reason i’ve been able to tell i was still in combat the past couple days, is my mount button was greyed out!

This is another one of the bizarre decisions made for DF. It doesn’t seem to improve anything and it upsets a lot of players. DF is a whole bunch of really awesome stuff mixed in with some really weird stuff.

That’s bad, but not something I experienced since I’m using an UI addon.

Unfortunately, the UI addon I’m using doesn’t affect floating health bars, so I guess I’ll have to add another addon to my load list if this doesn’t change.

There are some really teeny tiny, crossed swords. Grey in color. Very hard to see, on your portrait.

I think what the known issue is saying is that the elites are intended to show markers and it’s a bug that they’re not (otherwise, it’s not an issue and therefore not a “known issue”)… but I agree, it’s very confusingly worded.
