Is there any difference between the heroic/elite gear for PVE? Was thinking of grabbing the Elite version instead of heroic. The 30 crests and 500 flightstones to level up the difference seems a fair trade for 489 in Bgs.
I was wondering if I wouldn’t be able to upgrade it without being rated though. I haven’t seen anyone pick the elite version as of yet.
The PvE item level can go higher with the PvE piece but the PvP offsets that with the instance PvP item level addition
If you aren’t mythic raiding but you are PvPing then you should prolly get the Elite item
Also for mog reasons, heroic set is different than elite set. I grabbed the heroic helm for DH cause it’s a green skull and elite is red.
Transmog is the only difference. They’re both on the Hero upgrade track, the PvP item gives the PvP elite appearance, the Heroic item gives Heroic and Mythic (once upgraded).
I think it’s just the appearance.
Well, like, the pve one can’t reach 489 ilev in pvp.
I am wondering if this is a bug since they said they were just upgrading the veteran->champion for pvp gear. From looking at old videos it seems like the Emerald elite gear changed from Champion->Hero today.

Nah, it was Hero last week too. I’m pretty sure it’s intended.
It’s a bit unusual since PvP gear hasn’t worked this way before, but it seems the intent is: PvP gear from vendor will be Champion, PvP gear from vault can be Champion or Hero depending on rating. I don’t know yet what rating threshold is required for Hero track from vault, whether it’s just Elite, or possibly Duelist as well.

Yeah, upgrades are purely with Flightstones and the appropriate Crests.
Do you keep the transmog and for your entire account if you dont have the particular rating for the transmog? Like the shoulders or helm, if you dont have 1800.

Also, aside from mog, you should ALWAYS take the pvp piece since theyre on the same reward track
