(Elemental) what changes do you want to see?

I think they need to make maelstrom spenders powerful again. Currently so much of the spec involves alternating between lava burst and EQ/ES and with how much maelstrom we generate in aoe situations, I’m always overcapping.

If spenders consumed all maelstrom for increased damage then it would open the rotation for more lightning casts.

What I would love to see is a Lighting build and a Fire build. I also want shamans to have our own version of mage food

I suspect there’s some truth to this. Particularly for classes that go very long stretches without any communication from the developers. Imagine putting a ton of work into, say, a youtube video. You do all your research, your sources are solid, the writing is top notch, and the editing is on point. Your 10 minute video gets 56 views in 2 weeks, meanwhile a random cat video that’s 6 seconds long gets 20m views in 48 hours. That kind of unbalanced effort-to-reward ratio might explain a lot. At that point you’re talking to an empty room, and your effort is wasted.

I recently played Cataclysm Classic, and I think this version of Ele is a more solid design than the current Ele.

Overall, the DPS rotation is much more balanced than it is now, and you have to use an appropriate mix of LvB and LB, and the Fire Element is powerful enough.
Since LvB is strong and the number of uses is limited, I want to spread FS and use it a lot using lava surge. And it’s very pleasant to use while moving LB.
it’s not like the ele of the cataclysm classic is meta spec, and I can’t say it’s better than the other spec, but I was satisfied playing this.
I don’t know how Dev wanted to change ele in the meantime, but I’m sure ele has degenerated in the meantime.

Id also getvrid of lightning. In a world of passive cleave there is no reason for a class to have lightning. Just use chain lightning instead. Looks cooler. Less buttons.

Get rid of icefury and bake all of its benefits into a passive timer that every x amount of seconds your frost shocks get icefury buff.

Burrow should ve a pve defensive as well as pvp. Either that or give earth elemental some kind of buff for when its out we take 60% less dmg or sonething.

Stopped reading after remove lava surge

It’s either remove lava surge or remove a lot of the mechanical payoffs to lava burst. Lava burst has seen a steady creep in power and accessibility and that is what has led us to our current situation where one button crowds out pretty much everything else.

Ele was so fun in Cata. I sooooo miss perma Fire Ele during Firelands. Was probably the best we’ve ever had it.

The reason “one button” supposedly crowds out everything else is because we have a teir set that rewards that button, and no other reason. Lighting builds were more powerful in DF S1 and S2. There is a reason the current teir set won by a landslide, because its FUN. I would also argue, as many others already have, that the “one button” is simply misunderstanding how the spec actually plays. Ive played ele since Legion and i can tell you that this is the most fun Ive had doing DPS in mplus ever.

DF S1 the majority of players still used a pwave/fire focused build. S2 lightning was forced by the tier set (and was the best version of the spec in DF imo). But in S3 and S4, even if we had a tier set that was more neutral instead of fire focused, fire would still be the best build. The reason for that is, at S3/S4 levels of secondary stats, extremely high levels of mastery become possible. This greatly increased volume of lava burst overloads feeds into Rolling Magma, enabling significant cooldown reduction on pwave and thus more lava bursts. This interaction is the primary motor driving lava burst supremacy in our rotation.

I dont like spamming lava burst. It doesnt feel good to press. The “burst” is not really there like it used to be. The lb animation needs to change id rather see ball lightning tbh.

Spamming 1 button is fun? I couldn’t stand it and dropped playing elemental immediately after getting the tier set in Season 3. Worst spec design I’ve ever played.

Ele was fun when lava burst hit like a truck but the procs were rare. Now it’s just constant instant spam and they all tickle.

Unless you play the meme burst build (in PvP) you can global someone who isn’t familiar with the setup. That is about all the fun left in the spec.

I haven’t played cata shaman but wotlk ele was great and so much more fun to me.

Your clueless if you really think we are spamming one button. Clearly the vast majority agreed that this is the superior teir set.

It’s a slight exaggeration, but Lava Burst is upwards of 60% of the casts. You are spamming Lava Burst the majority of the time and it’s boring as all hell.

ELE Lower CD DR, Raid buff, equal self heals with pally’s, druids, priests, monks, enhance shamans (ffs), DK’s
ice fury rework, Earthquake rework, Tempest cast should be affected by hasted, and shouldn’t require 4 full maelstrom bar spends we need to start aoe as quickly as any other class starts aoe.

Ancestors need to be smarter, not reactive.

Build link?

You can flex some talent points around to your liking. Important points are Volcanic surge, skyfury, manual ascendance, stormkeeper, prim wave, equilibrium, and spiritwalkers aegis to get your combo off.

Issues

  1. Lightning shield is useless in raid content. Add a talent which allows its effects to proc when casting spells or triggering Elemental Overload or something.
  2. Row 3 on the Shaman Elemental spec talent tree is all utility, and they’re all blocking progression going further down into the tree. Utility should not be this much of a roadblock to access other more valuable stuff on a DPS-oriented tree.
  3. Row 7 on the Shaman Elemental spec talent tree is clogged with a ton of 2 point talents in the middle of the tree. Get rid of 2-point talents, reduce them down to 1.
  4. Icefury is clunky to use, and it’s position in the talent tree is a painful bottleneck. It needs to go, be entirely reimagined, or at least repositioned somewhere that it won’t feel like such a required pick.
  5. Echoes of the Great Sundering feels weird. If I’m doing AoE on an elemental shaman, I just wanna spam chain lightning with a few Earthquakes thrown in. That feels really good to do. Having to weave in Earth Shocks or Elemental Blasts on top of it feels contrary to what I’m trying to do.
  6. Having Lightning Rod and Stormkeeper compete with each other on a single talent node conflict with what’s available in the Stormbringer Hero Talent tree. There’s a hero talent that works off of Lightning Rod, and another talent that’s lackluster without having 2 charges of Stormkeeper.
  7. The bottom tier of the tree is almost entirely dominated by Lava Burst-oriented talents.
  8. Elemental Shamans largely have to choose between focusing on Lightning or focusing on Fire. There really isn’t an opportunity to mix because of certain anti-synergies in the rotation.

If the majority of the players were playing the fire build in S1, when the lighting build was superior damage wise. What does that tell you?
