This is my first Shaman Elemental, and I have been doing a lot of reading. I am confused on what is the best weapon to use for BFA! According to WOWHEAD it is an axe and a shield, but I have asked online and people say a staff/ Can someone please shed some light on this confusion, Thank you
I’m not 100% sure because I play enhancement spec, but it generally is about equal. The Int and Stam and secondary stats should be the same between going 2h vs int 1hand + shield. Going shield will give you a bit more armor, which is worth considering.
There are new weapons coming out in the raid that just released that do some new stuff, so this may have changed, but general the shield route is slightly better just because of the armor.
Just remember there are 1 hand weapons that are for enhancement spec (more dps stat and no int) as well as spellcaster 1h that have int.
Also, if you get a higher ilvl staff than your current 1h+shield, use that. You have to get both a weapon and a shield, with both higher ilvl, to beat the stats on a higher level staff, generally.
If you are doing PvP you need the shield … or else you are going to get squashed.
Agree with Dosao. Shield is only really needed for pvp.
Advantages of 2H is 1 stop shopping for upgrade. Where you have to get a wpn and OH the other way.
Most people complain about 2H because of Lore, nostalgia, looks, their perceptions

I’ve noticed this on a few posters now.
On topic, I prefer staffs. One weapon vs 2. It’s personal preference, really.

I’m a slightly higher quality than most shamans but not as high quality as some.
Just blue not purple or gold.

Bumped this to say I am now seeing that same bug you were talking about, but just for me. That I have noticed at least.
Guild text is a weird blue-ish green, as well as achievement number. Just started, weird.
