Is it just me or does elemental single target feel like it hits like a wet noodle?
Even simming I’m only getting 7.7K dps single target vs Enhancement about 10K dps single target.

Its hard to tell since we can’t see your ele/enhance gear and your guild either doesnt log or private logs for some reason.

Ele single target is very bad. When spec’d icefury, the best single target load out, you have the most complicated rotation to maximize, for some of the bottom damage. Logs in mythic are inflated, like with ww, because add fights, especially soulrender are quite good for ele. Looking at boss damage however, shows ele tied at the bottom with ww and mm, specs like feral being almost 33% ahead

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. You see one thread and it’s like “Ele is trash rn” and in another we’re top specs, getting placed in S-tier, and one shotting people in Arena.

I don’t raid in Ele spec. But I have a 252 dagger and 239 shield so I tried it out again on a training dummy. There was a 2-3k difference from enhance both on dummy and in sims single target
If you noticed a lot of peoples comments on that thread were “ele needs to be down a tier.”
And it is possible for ele to one shot a target in arena. Dewoverload got on wow highlights for performing the elusive quadruple crit storm keeper. Both lightning bolts and both overloads crit and that target did not survive.
Ele is b tier and maybe you can make am argument for low A tier. In pvp. In single target raid fight its hot steamy garbage.

But if this is the case, why am I seeing everyone with an Ele Shaman these days? It looks like they’re what Shadow was supposed to be.

i see almost no one playing ele ever, except very few specific people who play it no matter what. i will say, over the years, ele is usually a 5th or 6th alt that people eventually grind up. whether thats Blastabadar (talbadar’s alt) or Dampener (jahmilli’s alt) or whatever venruki’s alt was named… eventually when they get bored of their 6 others they end up levelling a shaman, and i think thats where we’re at. everyones levelled a monk alt, and a druid alt, and a priest alt, and a pally alt, and now theyre like… “i guess ill try a shaman”

I play it for world questing and solo stuff and leveling one of my soon to be 10 shaman alts (to farm kor’kron dark shaman armor, lol) and it’s fun for leveling and solo stuff but absolute trash in raiding and ST M+ stuff. The cleave is fun though, especially with legendary.
Demo/aff warlock and unholy DK would beg to differ.
Anyways, doesn’t ele do great AOE? Or have I just ran with really good ele shamans?
I feel like elemental AOE is fantastic and feels great to play, especially with the earthquake legendary. I haven’t quite mastered it but I do pretty consistently good AOE damage. The problem is when we get to actual bosses and my DPS plummets because the ST is so bad. Tyrannical weeks in M+ are basically a no go for me unless I want to get chewed out by my group.
In raids ele single target is GARBAGE!!! In mythic you can do what I do, use Storm Elemental, pop bloodlust and spam thunderbolt over and over, it does decent dps as the cooldown disappears.
Interesting. I am posting on my hunter, but I just got my Shaman to 52. My point is I out dps a ele Shaman that was sitting at 242 Ilv, by 3k at least. (according to details) I was wondering how. Its seems it takes a bit for our spells to ramp up. I am very new to the spec, I am still learning the rotation and what to use, so the reason I am here.
That gimmicky build with EE, crit build, skyfury, and on use is one of the most telegraphed/GCD heavy burst setups of all time. If the other team just ignores that long of a windup they played bad.

Well, and it’s far more successful to just go as Resto. Great healing, decent LvB hits, and the same ol’ Earth Elemental.

Ele do consistent ST dmg over a raid fight, instead of huge burst. Sims won’t take into account mechanics etc… so other classes have amazing instant opener burst but by the end of the fight Ele will be mid table.
We don’t need to top ST and we top MT - significantly. That’s where our strength lies.
