i herd in vanilla elemental shamans in raids go oom fast and arnt desired much is that true?i plan to play a ele or enhancement shaman in classic.
i have herd they are beasts at pvp tho.
Elemental is a meme in PvE, Resto is a meme in PvP, and Enhancement is a meme in both. Ele’s where it’s at for PvP - best single-target burst damage in the game in BiS gear and only 10% less healing than Restoration. Honestly just plan to heal as Elemental on content where mana tide won’t be necessary, which should be all of it if DPS and Priests are doing their job.

Play whatever you want to play, but the reality is that most guilds will ask you to heal at least when raiding. But we have better knowledge now, maybe you will find a group of crazy people who want a difficulty tweak and will raid with suboptimal specs.
I played an Enhance Shaman as an alt during Vanilla. I did it because it was fun, and my character looked good with his dual-wielded axes. It may not have been optimal, but who cares? Do what is fun.

Once geared yes for ele, not so much for hance from what I can udnerstand. Waiting on WF procs can be fun or frustrating.
Pretty much this, there is spots for shamans in raids, Just not cutting edge ones.
Play what you want to play, develop a rep as a good shaman and stuff will happen. Just keep your expectations of being a week 1 everything cleared raider in check.
Unless you want to heal…

Elemental Shaman are viable, not optimal in pve. You will need to put in extra effort to get properly geared (spell pen, in particular, which doesn’t really become easy to get until AQ).
What some people don’t seem to realize is that viable, not optimal specs will be welcome in many, many guilds and especially pugs.
We’re talking raids of 40 people here. It’s like herding sheep to get 40 consistent raiders week after week. Being optimal isn’t the most important thing in Vanilla. Showing up consistently and knowing fight mechanics is.

Elemental shaman don’t really shine until after ZG when they can stack BWL/ZG trinkets. But then you’re pretty much a 1 shot meme and then have to afk for the duration of the CDs. They’re a ton of fun though.
No ish? My memory is totally blurred then. Maybe I leveled him during TBC? I definitely remember killing raptors near Grom’gol and water walking along the coast there.

They got dual wield in TBC. It was a measure to fix enhancement dps. It actually worked pretty good. I love Vanilla more, but I will give credit to TBC for being the most balanced classes ever were in raids…

I Just wish Ele/Enhance got more than 1 active ability each in their talents.
I mean come on, enhances 21 point talent is literally the same thing warriors get at level 6 (parry).

Yup but their 31 pt talent rewards using Earthshock properly.
And sadly uses up 1 of 16 precious debuff slots.
Is what it is, ill still have fun on mine.
my favorite version of enhancement is tbc because i could dq then go 2hd for fun.
i really hope they come out with a tbc server…lol.
