I know elemental is obviously better, but I want to be able to melee as well as ranged equally as good, so can you play melee with just elemental or is it better with Elemental Fury?
If you’re trying to melee ur gonna be a meme either way, but elemental fury essentially makes your crits do double damage which is huge.
Because shamans are probably the easiest class in the game to kite, a good portion if not most of your damage is going to come from your shocks, so yeah, elemental fury makes it better
You’ll never be able to melee and range “equally” as good unless you deliberately choose to make your gear badly itemized, in which case you would be doing both melee and ranged “equally” as “good”, but in reality you would just be doing weak melee damage AND weak spell damage, not “good” melee and ranged

Are we talking PVP or PVE? I will assume PVP.
To get to Elemental Fury you will need to forego Stormstrike which imo puts a damper on your burst potential for melee.
I think you really need to decide which you want to lean towards and flesh out the other half with playstyle and gear choice.
As i see it you could go ele/flurry 31/20/0 and gear towards the caster side but keep a big 2 hander around for close quarters encounters and running down clothies. Or you can go Elemental devastation/Stormstrike gearing toward spell crit and melee stats to feed your melee crits, 19/31/0 with a floating point left over.
